The following is a list of the values of Socialism.

Socialism is a form of government where certain services are run by the government and the citizens have direct control over who is placed in power....
It embraces capitalism in the private sector...
The various things I have read do not use the word ‘certain’, but reference all production/distribution.

Suggestions appreciated
socialism, social and economic doctrine that calls for public rather than private ownership or control of property and natural resources. According to the socialist view, individuals do not live or work in isolation but live in cooperation with one another. Furthermore, everything that people produce is in some sense a social product, and everyone who contributes to the production of a good is entitled to a share in it. Society as a whole, therefore, should own or at least control property for the benefit of all its members.

Correct... But it only applies to certain aspects of society...
And society does own/control property in America... You literally don't own your property... Or your resources.... That's all government owned and managed.... Don't believe me
Try not paying your taxes...
Socialism allows for individuals to own property and businesses under the guidance of the state.... With some areas being completely owned and operated by the state.... Think utilities and hospitals...
Keep in mind that pure socialism has never been achieved... Just as pure capitalism has yet to be achieved...

I understand what you say.
However, everyone should be very distrustful of "under the guidance of the state". Extremely distrustful.
“Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.”
Additionally, the other adage that goes with that: "The compassion of the IRS and the efficiency of the postal service".
Less 'socialism like programs' and more private efforts will result in better outcomes. An excellent example is President Trump's "Warp Speed"; he removed the beaucratic barriers and the private sector got it done.

That leads to the question: Why the red tape?

There are some basic issues that certainly need to bewitched. However, having had to deal with 'government oversight' and unions for about 40 years allows me to say that too many things have one purpose - not to 'protect the people' but to 'increase the bureaucracy'.

We've found our common ground on this issue
Capitalist or socialist, democratic or totalitarian, less government usually equates with a happier populace
