Gee, maybe all those scientific studies showing that masks don't prevent the spread of the virus were on to something!

You obviously don't understand the leftist mentality. Doctors and scientists are infallible until they disagree with the left's agenda. In that case they are ignored.

The whole "mask thing" is an interesting phenomenon. I'm not sure that it is so much of a "left" vs. "right" issue, although most on the left seem to embrace the concept of "masks" more readily than those on the right.

Many on the left seem to view the "pandemic", the "shutdown", the loss of employment, school closures, and drastic economic impact from a partisan political viewpoint. Some see it strictly in medical terms. What Fauci, the CDC, the WHO, and the "supposed" experts say, must be so. They would NEVER, EVER abuse their positions of authority to benefit some elitist goals, or political agenda.

Many seem unable or unwilling to do their own research, and trust their own native intelligence. They fall prey to the media and propagandists owned by corporate interests. They are unwilling to hear, read, or consider what a lot of the rank and file doctors and nurses, as well as non-political hack researchers, virologists, epidemiologists, are saying - because they don't get the media coverage and blessing of authority. Anyway, enough ranting. Where was I anyway?

Masks do work along with proper PPE.

Check out the latest in Personal Protection Equipment: Note, the purple Hela Filter cartridge can trap particles down to .3 microns. The China Virus particle is about .125 microns. The fitted Hepa mask captures about 97%, the regular surgical masks about 80% and a cloth mask about 28%.

(Nancy Pelosi favors the more traditional style scarf for a mask, setting a new Fashion Trend)

Be Safe and don't leave home without this trend-setting PPE.

The 29.4% that didn't.....................infected them.

Horse crap. The virus can live for a couple of hours as an aerosol, and has a shelf life of up to 48 hours on most surfaces. I would say nearly everyone in this country has been exposed unless you have spent the past several months walking around in a Hazmat suit.

ACP45, Masks don't prevent you from getting the covid19 disease, they prevent you from giving it to others. The scientists and experts say that if everybody wore a mask, it would greatly reduce the number of new cases and deaths. What do they know? Trump knows more about infectious diseases than the doctors, more about intelligence than the entire intelligence community, and more about military matters than the generals.
Just ask him, he'll be glad to admit it.

I'm sure you can furnish the scientific studies that support that claim, correct? Let's see them.

Because they don't stop the spread the only help the person that's got it so they don't spread it to other people it doesn't work the other way around! Especially for us who haven't gotten it yet! Masks are only to protect the people with the disease from spreading it!

Impossible, they sure do work the other way. Masks don't "only" help to protect the people who have the virus from spreading it, they help protect the people that don't have the virus from getting it from people who do... thus helping to stop the spread of the disease

Masks work both ways. They do help people from getting the virus and help in those infected from spreading COVID-19 (the China Virus)

The problem is in helping. The virus can still pass through most masks and infect people, but the masks do help in trapping the virus rather than let the droplets of moisture escape and increasing the amount of the virus released from the infected person. Masks do work to help stop the spread of the disease but people shouldn't get a false idea that they are safe while wearing the mask. That's why Social Distancing helps.

Riding in a bus or subway car full of coughing riders this winter with the windows closed and the heat on would be a "Prime Breeding Ground" for the virus.

Wear a proper PPE mask and use Social Distancing as much as possible. If I find I'm in a situation where I'm in close contact with a person without a mask, I'm telling them to cover up that gapping mouth and nose.

Be Safe:

You asked a majority of doctors and they will tell you that masks only help a person with it not the person that doesn't have it nothing can save that person because it's an airborne disease whether you have a mask on or not someone is symptomatic and they stand next to you chances are you're probably going to get it whether you have a mask on or not! We need to enact herd immunity the only way we can do that as just allow people to go as normal the only people that need to be protected are the elderly!

Although I agree with you in most parts of what you are saying (especially when you say "most doctors), You use the terms don't stop, only, nothing, whether or not, which are all inclusive words (verbs) that masks worn by noninfected people absolutely (again you use of the all inclusive words) don't protect them.

It you changed these words to do little, mostly, for the most part, I could agree with you. Wearing a mask when not infected helps in different levels of protection depending on which type of mask you wear.

The COVID-19 virus is about .125 microns. Most masks are designed to trap water droplets. Cloth masks trap about 28% while surgical masks about 98%. A healthy person wearing the proper mask will be somewhat protected but still at some risk depending on the mask they are wearing. Again, cloth masks give little protection.

https://smartairfilters.com/en/blog/comparison-mask-standards-rating-effectiveness/

I am surprised that the chart shows that "0.3 Microns: Used to represent the most penetrating particle (MPPS), which is the most difficult size particle to capture".
