There's anarchy and there's socialism with a whole range between. The goal of the left as I understand it is not socialism where everything is controlled by the state, but a point inbetween that allows maximum personal freedom while invoking controlled capitalism (where monopolies and corporate gouging don't take place.) I doubt very seriously that you'd like to see anarchy, nor socialism (c*******m). So there has to be a point inbetween that neither side is happy with ... it's called compromise. I know that's a word that many aren't familiar with nor would use, but it's the only way that things work.
