Why not have real debate ? Let two of them just go at it!!! Just give them topic p... Let's say economy..Let President go for 15 minutes and than Biden for 15 minutes.... Than let them cross examine each other for let's say 5 minutes each.... And continue like that for every subject...No more than 4 subjects.... And close with closing statements no more than 10 minutes each! So you don't need moderators , they only make things worse ....

Trump can handle any moderator they throw at him.

Because trump can't follow the simplest of rulles I like to see them both with shock collars on and every time they lied they would get shocked .I bet trump wouldn't be able to answer one question.

It's more like "bring on the Bolsheviks" than anything we should be seeing in our Constitutional Republic.

In my opinion, all they're doing is allowing Americans to see what we can expect if today's Democrats ever gain control of all three branches of the government, and as somebody or other once said, "it ain't pretty!"

I hope enough Americans do you see what we could expect... !!! A real concern there, Seth~~~

I am steeped --

-- "Steeped, I tellya'!" --

The more they come on like i***ts, the more v**ers they lose.

I agree. Kick the l*****t favoring moderators out of the equation and make it a fair debate. Who needs a biased Chris Wallace or mean spirited, deranged Savannah Guthrie? Let Trump and Biden go toe to toe and let the audience really see what Slo Joe's vacant mind really looks like in the present tense. Keep all young girls off stage so Slo Joe is not distracted.

Probably because neither of the canidates could speak intelligently for that long. I have often made the comment that these are not debates. They are merely Q&A sessions. I was on a college debate team back in 1951. I got a topic and had to research it and then give a 30 minute presentation in support of it. Then the other teams speaker gave a 30 minute presentation in opposition to it, then each of us got a 15 minute rebuttal. Just like you say, no moderator. Just a real debate. I think that the media and the politicians think we are too stupid to listen to things like that, but a few years ago, I was in Alton IL, when CNN put on a reenactment of the Lincoln/Douglas Debates of 1856. It was held on the very same place where the original had taken place and there was a huge crowd (many of whom had made period clothing for the event!) who stayed for the entire event and paid close attention. You are absolutely right. Your somewhat shorter times might work better for TV timing. But think of all the advertizing time the media could get if they took that multitude of candidates we had and paired them off and had real debates and the winners then debated each other so v**ers could make an intelligent decision in primaries.

I got my absentee b****t a couple of weeks ago. I've been going through it and going online to read the websites of the various candidates. Here in Vermont we do not have to register as a Democrat or a Republican. We just register as Vermonters. There are 21 parties running for president on this b****t! Only Democrats or Republicans have a real shot at it, but there are five Independents, Prohibitionists, Constitutionalists, Greens, American Solidarity, Alliance and even a C*******t! I get to v**e for my state rep and he then v**es for anything Mike Bloomberg pays him to v**e for, which is a heck of a way to run a democratic republic. When I have figured out which candidates will do the least harm to the Constitutions of Vermont and the United States, I will v**e for them and take it down to the Town Clerk's office myself instead of trusting the USPS. Tho' I don't always agree with you, Proud Republican, I enjoy your comments. Stay safe and healthy.

Wouldn’t happen the left would never agree to her... She’s a Libertarian which is often thought of as 'right-wing' doctrine.. Although you can still write in the name of the person you really like to have...

Let's put amy coney as the moderator ,what would you say when she tells trump to shut the hell up,he now trying to change the debate questions,,something that was agreed to long ago. Why?Belmont college where the debate is to be held in nashville,is probably as right as it comes,so why does the right complain about its not a fair debate?

Up until the first moderated and televised p**********l debate in 1960, p**********l debates were modeled after the Lincoln/Douglas debates.

Each candidate was given a period of time - usually one hour - to speak. They each presented their policies and positions on issues and what they planned to do.

The people were the "moderators".

The left wouldn't be able to win without moderators because they wouldn't have anybody running interference for them! And I guarantee you they have a hard time keeping trunk quiet even with the turned off mic! You know what I say Trump bring your own mic don't let them shut you down!

Radiance and I came up with the perfect solution. Trump picks whomever he wants to ask questions to the opposition....wh**ever he wants to Biden....ie let's say Hannity or Tucker. Biden team picks whomever they want Lemon, Matthews, Reid, Cuomo and that person asks pertinent questions to Trump. You have your representation asking hard questions, questions to whom the v****g public hopefully want to hear. Must show respect, show civility. Problem solved.

That is actually a good idea, unlike PR's idea of no moderation, can you imagine the s**tshow that would devolve into? Moderators are ABSOLUTELY necessary to maintain order, otherwise things head south quick, and NO, I am not implying the chaos would be entirely any one side's fault solely, I am certain BOTH sides would have their own share of the blame for it. But the moderator also being the one to ask both sides questions does leave open the potential for bias be it actual or perceived, which is why I actually favor FSZ and Radiance's approach, it would ensure no softball questions and lead to a more fair and balanced debate.

Kudos to you two, that sounds like the best possible answer to the whole debate question.

Note: I still believe that a moderator will be necessary to maintain order. As for the potential for a biased moderator to moderate more harshly on one side than the other, that would certainly be pointed out in the post debate commentary on every media outlet but perhaps an off camera panel made up of picks by both candidates to rule on onscreen moderator's "moderations" in real albeit somewhat lagged, time. Their "rulings" would be pointed out in the first post ruling pause, between questions or before/after a commercial break.
