REPORTS: 2 LMPD officers wounded in downtown shooting

LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Two police officers were wounded in a shooting Wednesday in downtown Louisville.
A spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department confirmed the shooting Wednesday evening.
The shooting occurred before 8:30 p.m. around South Brook and East Broadway, according to initial reports from MetroSafe.

Officials initially said the shooting involved one officer, but sources are reporting that two officers have been wounded in the incident.
Additional details have not been released on their conditions.

The FBI in Louisville confirmed on Twitter that its SWAT team is assisting the LMPD in the officer shooting investigation.

The shooting comes in the hours after the announcement in the Breonna Taylor investigation, which saw a grand jury indict former officer Brett Hankison on three counts of wanton endangerment.
