Obama vetted potential nominations for weeks, sometimes months before naming them. He had the FBI do a deep level background check and if they found something that could potentially be a problem they were not named. The trick is to make sure the person ois squeaky clean by doing the background check before naming them. Trump seems to have no use for the department that has one function, which os to exercise that exact due diligence.

Instead we see this president and the senate using the power of a simple majority to jam any and every unqualified person through. If there are easily seen things that come up that are in fact deal breakers if they prove to be true, it isn't worth wasting the time jumping through the hoops. This administration takes it a radical step further and tries to run the FBI and intelligence investigations that do arise. As a problem comes up at confirmation stage the senate should be immediately pulling the plug and saying "next".

Can't they just pick from super well qualified centrist judges that the BAR endorses that could easily get bipartisan support?
