such a gorgeous evening last night, i pulled this out of past email simply because i felt like it..

enjoy....

In 2016 Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia unexpectedly passed away in February. President Obama fulfilled his constitutional duty by nominating a qualified replacement. Mitch McConnell refused to fulfill his constitutional duty to give Merrick Garland a fair hearing and a v**e. Instead McConnell said it was an e******n year and we should let the people decide. Never mind that President Obama was elected twice by a majority of the v**ers as opposed to Trump who was elected by a minority. Never mind that the 2016 US Senate was elected by "the people" as well. The Republicans had a majority and were free to v**e no on Garland. They simply lacked the courage to do their jobs.

McConnell had no problem shelving the Garland nomination for an entire year. By the time Neil Gorsuch was confirmed, the Supreme Court was short one member for 14 months. And please don't bring up the "Biden Rule". Pulling a hypothetical from a politician's speech is not a rule.

Now in 2020 RBG passed away. Not only is it an e******n year, people are actually v****g. The Republicans have reversed the policy they imposed in 2016 of "letting the people decide" and not v****g on a Supreme Court nomination in an e******n year. This is just a simple power grab. Is it legal? Yes. Is it moral? A man is only as good as his word. What does that make McConnell and his henchmen?

NO problem here. As long as we have 9 justices on the job the day of the P**********l Inauguration.
As for adding more to the bench, If the people want that, I'm sure President Trump will accommodate those wishes.

LOL,,, Weasel, I have to admit that I am not so sure about increasing the size of the SC.. as outraged (POd) as I am at this crap. 9 justices seem like a large number already.. but as to my knowledge Lincoln was the las president to change the size of the court.. And he is one of our very best.. Maybe Biden will indeed add a few judges.. I have no idea what the procedure is to do that..

Jimbo, how is it losing? You think the new Justice will give old Trumpy a pass on his law breaking? Maybe declare him a winner because of h*****g chads? Liked they say, don't count yer chickens till there hatched.

He's winning because he will get another conservative on the Court. You guys will be losing because you vow to stop him and can't. Once on the Court I hope the Justice rules per the Constitution and holds any and all politicians accountable for wrong doing. So far there has been no proof of any law breaking by Trump. Just whiney accusations from you wuss snowflakes.

History Is on the Side of Republicans Filling a Supreme Court Vacancy in 2020

Excerpt:

Twenty-nine times in American history there has been an open Supreme Court vacancy in a p**********l e******n year, or in a lame-duck session before the next p**********l inauguration. (This counts vacancies created by new seats on the Court, but not vacancies for which there was a nomination already pending when the year began, such as happened in 1835–36 and 1987–88.) The president made a nomination in all twenty-nine cases. George Washington did it three times. John Adams did it. Thomas Jefferson did it. Abraham Lincoln did it. Ulysses S. Grant did it. Franklin D. Roosevelt did it. Dwight Eisenhower did it. Barack Obama, of course, did it. Twenty-two of the 44 men to hold the office faced this situation, and all twenty-two made the decision to send up a nomination, whether or not they had the v**es in the Senate.

I told you, they no longer feel the need to pretend to care about law and order.............................because they make the law and order you to follow it......................................but does not apply to them.

Just a few points. Many are upset at President Trump for appointing a replacement for RBG. It is his job and he is fulfilling it. With all of the threats from Democrats to contest everything possible about the upcoming e******n, it would seem imperative that we fill that seat soon. Not saying how soon. But the President is faultless on this.

Many are upset about McConnell not putting the Garland appointment to a v**e. I am damn happy that he is not on the Supreme Court, as I believe he would have been just another activist Judge and not what we need. That is Judges who follow the law and not the Party, and the social whims of the latest mob of unintelligent wackos and the wishes of the f**e press. But I also believe that McConnell was wrong. He should have been put up for a v**e and v**ed down.

The radical Left had its payback for Garland with the way they have attacked subsequent appointments by President Trump, especially the Justice Kavanaugh bull schitt.

President Trump was not at fault for what Senator McConnell did 4 years ago. He wasn't president then and shouldn't be faulted for fulfilling his duty now.

I'm sure that any intelligent person on here gets a good laugh at Senator Harry Reid right now for his stupid removal of long standing Senate rules in regard to a 60 Majority needed on Judicial appointments. It is now biting the Democrats in the ass and it should. The real question should be, how soon can we bring back that rule and how could we guarantee that the Democrat Party would live up to it in the future if they get control. Especially with the outrageous threats coming from the Democratic leadership to burn it all down and stack the court and the Senate. Totally un-American and childish.

Logically Right

Obama was a lame duck President. I know the l*****t/liberals think Trump is, but he is not. After Reid shot his self in the foot, Obama, his AG went to work down stream with the help of Soros & a host of others getting liberal State Attorney Generals elected & still are which forces more cases to SC.

I do not believe in life time appointments for any Government post. John Roberts is not a conservative by any stretch of the imagination, nor is Kavanaugh. The left is just using this as something else to r**t about for the next four years.

I figure they will keep on r**ting even if Harris/Biden wins because they don’t get everything they want on 1-21-21 even if they win the Senate & keep the House. They are promising things that they cannot do.

FDR tried to pack the SC, did not work for him.
