I'm not trying to reverse anything. I was simply trying to understand what you said in some kind of context. And what you said did not indicate that you were talking about one particular experience of yours. Thank you for clarifying.

That said, it's unfortunate that the two sides were mad at each other - - were they mad at each other for the type of funeral, the type of service, or for some other more deep-seated reason - - what purpose did anger serve ???

They appear to always be mad and don't talk to each other.
Of the five kids, only a brother and sister can get along for any time.
They were a very odd family.
They fought for so many years over her estate that they lost everything.
They were all greedy.

Why isn’t it a simple matter of what your personal belief is about your faith.? We can assign a lot of creative reasons on why and what defines a religion or religion itself when in fact doesn’t it simply boils down to what your heart believes and what you feel personally??

I was raise Catholic, was even an alter boy and served the Mass in Latin but I'm not a practicing Catholic now. I take what comforts me from Catholicism, other religions and the Bible and practice and pray to one GOD and JESUS. Mike

Would you say that Jews tend to be more traditional than Christians or other faiths???

No more than any other. It depends on how they were raised, along with personal choice, IMO

Canuckus started this inane thread just to prove my suspicion (not confirmed by him): he is on an American blog site (OPP), in search of "friends" who are gullible, d******e and irrationally fond of phony issues.

You think so?
Could be, I guess.

I certainly enjoy many of the individuals and their perspectives on this forum...

I'd be lying if I said I didn't have favorites...

It's a good place to relax and chat...

Very few people enjoy that these days... And it's hard to find English speakers with my cultural background where I live

Now wait a moment - - you don't get to assign your own definition, and then make a judgment as if your definition is the only one.

You're talking about a group of learn-ed rabbis, accepted by their congregations as being able to speak for Reformed Judaism. Their goal, as stated, is integration of the congregation with a modern outlook in mind.

This is the same kind of difference that we can find in folks who believe in strict interpretation of the Constitution vs folks who believe that the Constitution should be a living document which ought to reflect that times have changed from over 240 years ago.

The committee of rabbis isn't going against their God any more than American citizens who believe that the Constitution changing with the times is going against intentions of the "founding fathers". I believe the Federalist Papers and other historical documentation certainly indicated that the founding fathers expected the Constitution to survive by the very nature of its inherent fluidity.

I h**e it when I come across a secular postmodernist.

You "believe", huh? Have you dev**ed a sincere effort in studying our founding, its history, its documentation and its people - the AoC, DOI, the Federalist Papers, the Convention records, the Journals, the letters, the speeches, the sermons, and the prayers?

If you had, you would know the Constitution of the United States is the foundation.

Like that of a building or a Tower, our Constitution is the solid basis upon which our nation is built.

We can get out the Article V tool box and repaint the walls or rewire the lights or replace the comodes, but we can't screw around with the foundation. We can't turn it into a fluid, ethereal living entity and have any hope whatsoever that the nation will remain standing.

I can't imagine where our nation would be now if, over just the past 100 years, our government administrations had governed solely by the principles cemented in our Foundation.

✨👍✨👍

I understand you... I did a bit of searching, visiting different denominations and still didn’t find what I was looking for...Self study that lead me into many different Philosophies gave me better structure, definition etc.. In the end it was what my heart, soul and mind found in Jesus Christ ( that supreme being) that gave me foundation and a stronger faith..Now unshakeable as every day still a learning cycle..

Lots of English speakers... Few westerners... And my personality doesn't lend itself to enduring distasteful individuals for the sake of babble

Thank God for the OPP and FS... And wechat

That's great.
I find it fascinating to know people learn to speak Chinese, but I understand Cherokee is the hardest language to learn.

I'd think Russian or Korean... Both have insane grammar... No experience with Cherokee...
