What will you do when ....

Many of you here are senior citizens. What will you do when:
Social Security will be cut by 30%? This is already in the works. If the payroll tax moratorium is extended, and made permanent, those still paying income taxes will see a huge bill for it at tax time. Congress would have to act to make the payroll tax exemption permanent, i.e. abolishing it, which is unlikely. But those of you that rely on SS every month should think carefully about what would happen if the system went broke or was severely cut back.
Medicare is abolished or severely cut for the same reasons. Medicaid is already on the ropes and there's lot of things that aren't covered any more. This would put us back to the ER's delivering primary care to people sicker than average because they didn't have a doctor that could afford to go to. Private insurance would go through the roof on premiums, and most of us couldn't afford it. Assisted living programs and nursing home care would be gone or astronomically expensive, thus putting seniors on the street or burdening their families (if they have any) with their care.
Pensions would be cut, if not abolished, because of how most of them are invested. A lot of funds are reliant on REIT's (Real Estate Investment Trusts) or MBS's (Mortgate Backed Securities) for their continued profitability. With the current job market as it is, the eviction rate will soar, resulting in large vacancy rates in apartments or lots of houses on the market from banks trying to salvage defaulted mortgages. Either way, that ripples up the chain when apartment owners can't pay their own investors or mortgages, and banks flood the housing market with foreclosed properties. Those pension funds that buy these instruments (REITs and MBSs) will find their income streams dramatically lowered and will have to find ways to maintain their own solvency. The first way is to cut pension payments or do away with them entirely.
For those of you still in the job market:
Plan on your cost of living to go up dramatically.
First, if we wind up "buying American", the cost of goods will go up significantly. Those cheap Chinese imports will cost more, if they are available at all. The manufacturing base here can only compete if they automate in a major way, cutting costs by cutting jobs. And those products (if they're still available at all) will cost more.
Next, count on raw foodstuffs (meat, grains, and produce) costing more because of the labor shortage in the fields to pick the crops and manage the herds. If we were to get rid of the undocumenteds somehow tomorrow, the ability of growers to deliver their food to market would shrink by anywere from thirty to fifty percent. If you think that Americans will take up the slack, look at the Alabama experience when they drove out the undocumenteds with strict legislation and farmers had a terrible time trying to get workers to pick the crops. Many of those crops ended up rotting in the fields. The price of this policy will be felt by all of us.
Durable goods will cost more because many of the components of them will not be as available or will cost more from foriegn sources.
C*****e c****e (regardless of what the cause) looks like it will cause more disruptions in the growing of grains due to drought. It's already happening in parts of the midwest and will probably grow in intensity. Result: higher cost for corn, soybeans, wheat and other grains, and higher prices for beef and pork due to feed costs.
The new "fire homeless" are a new and significant problem. Entire towns have been erased from the landscape. Last year it was Paradise, California. This year it's Talend and Phoenix, Oregon. If you think it can't happen in a suburban setting, think again. These were right on the I-5 corridor next to a fairly major city. The devastation is total where the fire went through. The people there were workers, business people and retirees, just like everywhere else. They now have nowhere to go, no businesses to patronize or run, and nothing but the clothes on their backs. They could have been your friends and neighbors.

These are just a few of the problems looming in the near future.

The answer that we're getting from the federal government echos the words of Marie Antoinette during the French Revolution … "Let them eat cake!" The president hasn't mentioned much except about the r****rs, B*M, and A****a, and the need to maintain law and order. Three weeks now without a single mention of compassion, sympathy or aid for the fire victims. No mention of help for Social Security. No mention of health concerns except the ongoing attempt to k**l "Obamacare" that is still raging in the courts, in spite of promises to maintain the "pre-existiung conditions" clause for perhaps unaffordable insurance policies. Deporting children without due process … I could go on.

Many of these problems could be avoided by prudent policies that are not currently in place and aren't probable in four more years of a Trump administration. The Republican attitude seems to be "I've got mine, and screw you." The end result would be an America that none of us would want (unless you're wealthy enough to insulate yourself from all of this and money is no object).
I will be accused of 'doom and gloom' scenarios here, and I sincerely hope I'm wrong. But I frankly don't see any way to prevent them from happening without a dramatic shift in the way the country is run and in the policies that have to be put in place. Even now some of them would have to be draconian in order to reverse the problems that currently exist. They can't be solved with rhetoric and promises; they can only be solved by actual implemation of the ways that will make it work. This will have to involve major shared sacrifice from all of us to regain some of the luxury of living that we have enjoyed during our lifetimes. To do otherwise is to insure that we all will suffer a descent to almost third-world status in our standard of living. None of us want to see that happen.

Actually, Trump is NOT PERFECT, no human being is! We "cult followers" did not elect him to be God, we elected him to UNDO the Washington Establishment and their CONTROL of our country! We have NO DESIRE to be led by G*******t forces, we like the fact of a strong individual NATION and resist any & all efforts to become part of SOCIALISM>MARXIST>C*******M or part of the new world order CRAP!

Your are SPOUTING a bunch of fear-mongering ideas in an ATTEMPT to SCARE people to your side of the fence! Why don't you try to put forth some creative planning or ideas that would HELP our country instead of parroting every possible socialist meme? Nothing you have stated is ANYTHING VALID, just the worse possible dreamed-up consequences of some lame-brained L*****T ACTIVISTS!

Dem's have been saying for 40-years that SS was going to be CUT! NO more MEDICARE! Has NOT and WILL NOT HAPPEN!!! MAN-MADE C*****E-C****E is a MARXIST wet-dream! Carbon-Tax scheme to rob the richest nations and give their money to the poorest nations! China & India will NEVER AGREE, so it is a mute cause, a myth! Yes c*****e c****es, but what little humans could POSSIBLE do to change it has almost NO effect at all! Just another MONEY-GRABBING SCHEME for the NWO/UN!

Seems your BUBBLE can't stand any penetration either, or T***H!

Ah ... seems that t***h is in the eye of the beholder! Some of what you are saying as to c*****e c****e may be true, but it is human caused. Can we do anything to abate it? Still out for a solution.
As for SS & Medicare, I'm just saying what the current situation is, not whether or not it will actually occur. There are forces in the political realm that would like to get rid of both systems and they might just get the job done.
Thank you in your criticism of the prez ... in my opinion it doesn't go far enough but I'll accept it. As for the validity of what I posted, in my opinion it is a snapshot in time of the situation as I see is in the present moment. That's all. I'm not proposing any solutions (although I believe I have some) at this time ... just the situation as I see it at the present instant.
As usual and in your case for sure, your mileage may vary.

C*****e c****e is NOT caused by humans. The effect that humans have on the Climate is negligible at best. The draconian rules that you think need to be put in place is called Marxism. It has already been tried in many countries and has NEVER worked.

Conservatives want the government to stay out of our lives, as they are required to do by the Constitution.

The fires raging in the pacific northwest were completely preventable with proper maintenance and care. If foolish people would stop setting them we would be in a much better place. We, as a country, need to do better to care of ourselves. Through our communities, and not through big government. Bigger government never works it only takes freedom from people. Look to any marxist country for proof.

You need to look to yourself for the solutions and causes of problems, and start there before you can possibly help anyone else.

May I point out that the majority of forest land that is burning is federally owned and controlled.

You may, can you provide proof?

Can you explain why most of these fires are man caused? Arson.

All you have to do is look at the acreage of National Forests and Bureau of Land Management holdings, which in Nevada tops 50% of the entire state area. In many of the western states, that number is at least 35%. Just look at a map that shows the area of the federal holdings.
Some of these fires are indeed man caused, but a large number are also caused by lightning strikes. The forest management issue is, in large part, a result of the lumber industry, who has pushed for maximum suppression of fires, so as to keep the amount of marketable timber at a high level. However, fire is a natural phenomenon which some species of trees require in order to thin out the understory and at least one variety of pine tree (lodgepole, I think) won't open its cones and distribute its seeds unless the heat of the fire is present. Also, fire keeps the pine bark beetle in check, which destroys pine forests at a high rate and is a major problem in the western forests.
There are two ways of thinning out that understory, fire and manual thinning. If you do neither, the result is the massive fires that you are witnessing on the nightly news. C*****e c****e (man-caused or otherwise) is amplifying the problem because of increased temperature and drought.
