Their job is to defend the people in the community they serve. If they focused on that rather than arrest statistics there would be no problem. When I was a kid I was told if I was lost or in trouble I could go to a policeman for help. For good reason kids in most cities today Are afraid of the police, they don’t trust them, and are threatened by them, and in far too many instances are beaten and k**led by them.

I've never heard of an incident where someone went to the police for help and was instead threatened and beaten.... Source
