Of no consequence: When I was 16 (1963), I spent a summer as a go for/laborer thanks to my father, NYC's top Building Inspector

I never questioned nor thought about my privilege. If you were Catholic, you went to a private parochial school. That this was pretty exclusive was not considered; it was just the way of things. All my friends were the children of upper middle class parents. Our language was not Bronx. And we lived in an area, a privately owned idyllic housing project called Parkchester, that was segregated. The absence of B****s or Hispanics was not even noticed; it was just the way of things. No hatred nor agreement about it; it was never mentioned out of ignorance.

Back to my summer job. It was a different mindset then. Part of my job was to take the lunch order. The first time I did this, everyone said I screwed it up. By the fifth out of twelve, I realized I was being hazed. We all laughed. But the point I wanted to make was about the orders: a forty ounce of beer was normal. Drinking on the job that could be dangerous at times was natural.

And so it was when I worked for Bank of America in 1974. Many of us would go to a bar for lunch. This natural habit now appears grossly wrong. How could we be so irresponsible? So I began to understand, where I had not before, how s***ery was accepted: it was just the way of things. Nobody pondered the right or wrong of it. Well, mostly nobody. I was not a critical thinker as a teenager and feel I would have accepted s***ery as just what is. Call me up to serve the Confederate Army, I am there with bells on. The North was threatening our way of life. Sad.

Our Weltanschauung sometimes takes radical shifts in perspectives. We may be appalled or shocked today of accepted drinking on the job, but then barely anyone objected. What I am trying to say is that we must try to remain above the fray, though not out of life, to objectively as possible look at our norms. A lot of effort, perhaps too much for most, is needed. And will be usually unrewarding and worse. Not an enviable life.

Then why post it? Are you becoming confused between your multiple personalities now? You're doing the same namecalling.

You only and always have a snarky or ugly comment against me. Why? I post it as a cautionary tale and confession, for my delight and fun. So, Karen, what is wrong with that?

You do it because as others have pointed out you are an "attention whore". No more, no less. And your other personalities don't use "karen" correctly either.

I doubt he can answer you now. He is conducting services at his make believe church. Which is just another lie .
He is a complete liar and can't be believed about anything. I doubt if he is even registered to v**e.

You can't believe anything he says. A few months ago he told us he was a preacher.
