A guy I worked with years ago had a sister who was stopped beside one in Dumas at a red light with her window down, and a cow pissed out of the side of the trailer, and soaked her, and the inside of her car.

I grew up near Liberal. I remember when National Beef Packing Company was trying to get permits to build their plant there, it was touted as "odor free", and I reckon it was - we were never charged a dime for the odor that floated up from there on the days they were "cooking guts" is what we called it. Rank, very much bad - but no charge. I was in Liberal a couple of years ago, National has been bought out by someone, possibly IBP (Iowa Beef Processors) and has grown a lot. They employ lots of Mexicans, both legal and "undocumented" (wet backs) and like Dodge and Garden City, English is no longer the first language in Seward County, maybe even all of SW Kansas.

Well, we’re getting ready for this hurricane! The water got up to the low dock and the racks on the lift were under water. It’s a little windy, but the rain hasn’t hit yet! I hope we don’t get hit, but then I don’t want anyone to get hit! I don’t know what will happen right here with 24” of rain.....I guess we’re going to find out! My son is coming to see next week and had planned for he and his Dad and a Army buddy from Indiana to do some serious fishing. It’s not looking good for that at this tome!

Let me share a story of true Texan ingenuity. A bartender in West Texas watches as a dusty cowpoke rides up out of the hot Texas sun, ties off his horse walks behind it lifts its tail and plants a kiss right on the horses anus. He then came in the bar and ordered a whiskey. The bartender thought the Texan must have been nuts but after the man had a couple he realized he was a decent guy with some interesting yarns. When the man paid his tab and got up to leave the bartender stoped him. “You seem like a nice guy but I have a question for you, When you rode up you lifted that horses tail and kissed its ass, it was one of the most d********g things I have seen. Why on earth would you do such a thing?” The cowpoke grinned and replied “chapped lips.” The shocked bartender shrugged his shoulders and asked “chapped lips? How the hell does that work? The cowboy smugly replied, “keeps me from lickin em.”

We made it with very little damage. We were on the east side of Sally so we were spared the big tidal surge. We have a younger neighbor that stayed, while we held up in a Holiday Inn in Louisiana. He said there is water everywhere from the tremendous amount of rain and we have no power as of a couple of hours ago, so we’ll stay here until tomorrow! The only damage that he could see was the loss of a few shingles.

I’m anxious to get home to my silly cats! We gave them access to the screened in porch area upstairs so they had a pretty good shelter with dry food and fresh water. This was the kittens first big storm so they probably got pretty scared! They’ll need a little extra spoiling now! LOL!
