May I assume that does not mean "That is rich?"

I completely agree. His homespun humor was pure Americana. As good a comedian as he was, few realize what a fine dramatic actor he could be. His 'Face In the Crowd' movie, released in 1957, was a classic, and co=starred Patricia O'Neal and Walter Mathau.

Of course, he will always be 'Sheriff Andy' to me and most, I guess.

Lets get back to Costello. He was a great comedian and Abbott was one of the best straight men of all time. He was at least good as Dean Martin was.

Agreed!

Remember the movie street skit where Bud and Lou were getting robbed? Bud quickly 'gave' Lou the $20 he owed him!

These old comedians really cracked me up. Red Skeleton especially cracked me up, but so did Andy Griffith. Bob Hope was another that could bring down the house. It's a shame that their craft has been lost and that comedians think the only way to be funny is to use 4 letter words now days. I heard a new comedian on HBO that really got down in the gutter and I just couldn't stand to listen to her. And to think these people think they are funny these days. I'll take the old comedians any day of the week. Even Jack Benny was funnier then any of the new ones I caught on HBO that night. He had class and knew how to make people laugh with just a look. Lots see these new people do that.
These old comedians really cracked me up. Red Skel... (show quote)

Those old timers WERE really good. I think the last of good comedy from the modern era was found on "evening at the improve" but even they couldn't hold a candle to the old school!
 :D :-D

Korman and Conway were a really important reason I always watched that show. Tim Conway was an excellent example of a comedian who could make you laugh just with the look on his face.

Yeah, and Korman could not keep a straight face around Conway, who always cracked him up with laughter!
