Such things are seen at times of great strife or danger as polite niceties. The criminal who gets off on some heinous crime by a technicality (The Constitution) should be brought to justice by any means, lawful or not. Or an entire country dedicated to freedom choosing fear first and enacting the Patriot Act. Patriots? That was an egregious offense to our principles, values, and morals. Like the Muslim ban and Mexican border obscenities of pushing away asylum seekers and separating families. Trump is an extension, a natural evolution, of the Patriot Act. And it will only get worse with this incarnation of our collective fear named Donald Trump.
If this country is truly a Christian nation, we should start acting like the Children of God, according to the Beatitudes. Peacemakers and so forth.
