Here's an interesting side bar. After the Japanese decimated our fleet in Pearl Harbor Dec 7, 1941, they could have sent their troop ships and carriers directly to California to finish what they started. The prediction from our Chief of Staff was we would not be able to stop a massive invasion until they reached the Mississippi River. Remember, we had a 2 million man army and war ships in other localities, so why did they not invade?
After the war, the remaining Japanese generals and admirals were asked that question. Their answer....they know that almost every home had guns and the Americans knew how to use them.
1. The world's largest army ... America 's h****rs! I had never thought about this....
2. A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:
3. There were over 600,000 h****rs this season in the state of Wisconsin .
4. Allow me to restate that number.
5. Over the last several months, Wisconsin ’s h****rs became the eighth largest army in the world.
6. More men under arms than in Iran .
7. More than in France and Germany combined.
8. These men deployed to the woods of a single American state to hunt with firearms, and no one was k**led.
9. That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan 's 700,000 h****rs,
10. All of whom have now returned home.
11. Toss in a quarter million h****rs in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that
12. The h****rs of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world. The number of H****rs in the state of Texas would be the largest standing army in the world by it's self.
13. The point?
14. America
15. Hunting -- it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security.
16. That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed.
17. Food for thought when next we consider gun control.

And when considering that most of us own more than one or two firearms that we could dispense to those who don't it makes for a huge army with most knowing how to shoot. Not to mention that our arms are mostly up-tricked to be extremely accurate and lethal. Mike

In addition the logistics of attacking and subduing a country 5,000 miles away over open ocean that had a 1400 mile long west coast, was 3,000 miles wide and contained a population almost twice as large as Japan's did not bode well for success.
An armed citizenry will never be unwillingly loaded into railroad boxcars at gunpoint, will they?

i actually remember when that was said. Thats how old i am, none-the-less thats what the Japanese
admiral or general said, they were asked why they didn't continue on and invade America as they decimated Pearl Harbor, thats when he answered "there's a gun behind every blade of grass". The best part is he was right.

A blogger got WI's deer hunting license bureau for 2018-750,000. That's the largest, but not by very much. I remember around then for some reason I had stats of vets-1.6 million active military-something like 4.8 million. What I didn't count was m*****as, at the time they were almost in hiding. I'd guess 2,000 or more. Like all the branches of the military.
