If they would have done their job

If republicans in the senate did their job they would have convicted an obviously guilty Trump after allowing witness testimony in his impeachment trial. Pence, a real Republican, would now be president and candidate for 2020. The response to the pandemic would have been much more successful with many of those who died needlessly not infected. Normal, educated middle class republicans and centrists who will no longer touch Trump with a dung fork would support Pence instead of Biden and the republicans would have a shot at healing the country and holding on to power. Instead they are going down with the Cheeto faced Shitgibbon.

No dumb is on the right with your constant (PROPAGANDA AND CULTURE OF CONSPIRACY THEORIES) the right wing ignores facts they don’t want facts that’s why no witnesses called during a senate trial that’s not a trial it was a coverup to protect Trump with a lame attempt by McConnell and senate republicans to maintain there power.

But democrats had better beware Trump is not done yet he will do everything humanly possible to stay out of jail. He has multiple indictments awaiting him and his family when he leaves office.

Trump will do whatever it takes to incite the Right wing nut jobs to protest the 2020 election. Trump has already begun with conspiracy theories to expose the 2020 election as a fraud. Just his comments on mail in voting versus creating massive fraud.

I can honestly say if every AMERICAN were given an easy path to vote and no voter suppression this pathological lying sociopath would loose all 50 states and end up in jail with his entire family. The only way Trump stays out of jail is to make a plea deal with the SDNY to plead guilty in order to keep his kids out of jail. And we know damm right well he will sell his own family down the drain in order to save his own fat ass.

The Senate held an impeachment trial. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court presided as judge in the trial. The Senators sat as the jury. Members of the House of Representatives were chosen as managers of the impeachment and as such acted as the prosecutors in the impeachment trial. The prosecution's job in a trial is to present evidence and call witnesses. In lieu of having the witnesses actually present in court, they opted to enter the transcripts of their testimonies into evidence. Abuse of power is an extremely difficult charge to prove as the defense could easily portray it as a difference of philosophies of governance. The charge of obstruction has to be proven by showing that the defendant failed to turn over subpoenaed documents or witnesses. Just because Congress asked the President, did not require him to comply with the request. To require the President to comply with the subpoena Congress needed to go to court to determine if the subpoenas were enforceable. If the court finds the subpoenas are enforceable or that the President's use of executive privilege was proper, the subpoenas are null and void. If the court finds the subpoenas are enforceable, and the President fails to comply after the ruling, then he can be charged with obstruction. Congress failed to try the courts to enforce their subpoenas, and in fact withdrew the subpoenas, makes the charge of obstruction null and void as there was nothing at that point to obstruct.
As far as the potential for fraud in regards to the mail-in voting, one small, local election has had 4 people (all Democrats) charged with voter fraud. News organizations have run tests, albeit on a small scale, that indicates there are large problems with an all vote by mail election. The states that have used mail-in voting have done so for years and worked out most of the bugs before trying it. To expect the rest of the country to implement this in a couple of months with no problems is just dreaming. (It could also cause some people to believe your medications may need to be adjusted.)

Your just a part of the Trump train to suppress the vote in this country because your so out of touch with the difference between absentee ballots and mail in voting. But when your a Trump supporter you live in a culture of conspiracy. There is no evidence that mail in voting creates massive fraud. And most cases of voter fraud has been tracked back to republicans. So your post is ridiculous and shows how the RWNJ really are.

Trump is getting his ass handed to him in this country and the only support he has now is a base filled with racism, hate and a bunch of filthy disgusting southern states that have been taking from the tax payer’s ever since the slaves were freed and can’t function because they lost free labor. These ignorant disgusting people who make up the major cost of sucking the life out of our entitlements are the cause of our problems with waving there GD confederate flag and running around with assault rifles, sicken the rest of this country.

That senate trial was nothing but a coverup to protect Trump. So don’t cherry pick your BS. The house did there job and Trump did not and let me say it again so your not confused (TRUMP BLOCKED EVERY GD SUBPOENAS BY THE HOUSE. HE REFUSED TO TURN OVER ANY DOCUMENTS. NINETEEN PEOPLE TESTIFIED AGAINST TRUMP NOT ONE GD PERSON WALKED INTO THE HOUSE AND TESTIFIED FOR TRUMP. LET ME SAY IT AGAIN NOT ONE. SO THE HOUSE VOTED TO IMPEACH. YOUR STUPID STATEMENT THAT THE EVIDENCE WAS GIVEN TO THE SENATE YES BUT NON OF YOU RACIST WOULD BELIEVE IT. ALL IT WOULD HAVE TAKEN WAS FOR MULVANEY, POMPEO, GUILIANI AND ANY TRUMP ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL THAT WAS PRESENT DURING THE TRUMP PHONE CALLS WAS TO WALK INTO THE SENATE RAISE THERE RIGHT HAND AND TESTIFY UNDER OATH AS THE NINETEEN WITNESSES DID.
IF TRUMP WAS TRUTHFUL WITH THE BS HE THREW AT YOU PEOPLE HE WOULD HAVE BEEN RUNNING TO THE SENATE TO TESTIFY HE WOULD HAVE RELEASED THE TAPED PHONE CALLS AND DOCUMENTS BUT THAT PRICK BURIED THOSE TAPES.

If during that senate trial if a subpoena was issued these people would have been compelled to testify and that’s fact. If they refused they would end up in jail until they did. So your cherry picked post and add in conspiracy theories and simply put propaganda.

You people make me sick.

Article II, Section 4, US Constitution:

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery or OTHER high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

In OTHER words, in the context of Section 4, the word OTHER indicates that any and all high Crimes and Misdemeanors must be equal in severity to Treason or Bribery - Treason is a "high Crime" and Bribery is a "high Misdemeanor".

Neither "abuse of power" nor "obstruction of congress" meet the standards for high Crimes and Misdemeanors. Every president in history has, at one time or other and to one degree or other, abused his power and obstructed congress and every congress is US history has abused its power and obstructed the president.

In the impeachment of president Trump, the House DINOCZARS rewrote Section 4 to read "Treason, Bribery, or any damned crime we can come up with." This impeachment was nothing more than a political sham from the get-go. It was a serious breach of our Constitution and should alarm every American citizen worthy of the name.

Here is something I have noticed-when anyone on OPP mentions the Constitution, and provides chapter and verse to back up their statements, some one, invariably a lefty, comes right back with unfounded accusations of Trump trampling on the Constitution, but nowhere do they indicate which sections, and give examples of how this was done. It may have happened, but I have not seen it. In addition, it usually devolves into name calling and gutter language with accusations about the level of understanding of pretty basic stuff in the Constitution and the rule of law. Anyone else notice this? Why are you afraid to tell us exactly what part of the Constitution and give examples of same, on which you believe Trump has defecated? Perhaps we could have an actual debate and discussion, instead of being left with just the rant, for which there is actually no answer, since you did not provide a definitive example of wrongdoing that merits losing his office. You might actually change some people's minds!

Your TDS and refusal to understand the legal process is amazing. As President, Trump has the authority to use something called executive privilege in order to protect confidential deliberations. When a President uses this (and it was used by Obama, Clinton, and other Presidents of both parties in the past), it is to give assurances to advisors that their advice is not made public so that they will give the President their best advice, no matter how unpopular it may be. Congress has the right to challenge the use of executive privilege by going to court. If the court finds that executive privilege applies, the President doesn't need to supply the documents or witnesses in question. If the court finds that executive privilege does not apply, then the President must turn over the documents or witnesses in question. If the President fails to comply, he can be found guilty of contempt of Congress and obstruction of Congress. None of this applied because Congress failed to go to court to enforce their subpoenas and, in fact, withdrew the subpoenas; therefore, the was nothing for Trump to obstruct.
There are many guilty people who are allowed to go free because the prosecutors failed to properly do their job. Sometimes the truth is not pretty, but it doesn't change the facts.
What about in Clinton's impeachment, did the Senate fail to do their job then? Clinton had been found guilty of perjury in a court of law and as a result of his conviction, he lost his law license. The Senate failed to remove him after he was convicted of a misdemeanor, an impeachable offence. For the record in my opinion, the perjury charge was a rinky dink thing to remove a President from office. If they wanted to punish him, they should have censured him.
In Trump's case, he had not been convicted or charged with an impeachable offence. The House managers did a poor job of presenting their case. They said there was concrete evidence of impeachable offences committed by Trump, yet they never presented it.
