But the Trump administration's efforts to ease their pain have paid off. The administration gave soybean, sorghum and other farmers $12 billion in assistance in 2018, which the vast majority of our survey participants found useful. The survey was conducted before an additional $16 billion in payments went to farmers this year, both to offset trade losses as well as the effects of too much rain.

Long-term gains

We also found that farmers largely view the trade disruption as short-term pain for long-term gain.

While only 14% think their farm operations will be better off financially a year from now, more than half said they expected something good to ultimately come out of the trade war. And about 44% said they believe the U.S. economy will be stronger in three years. China's 2017 decision to allow imports of U.S. beef and its 2020 national ethanol mandate also give farmers hope for new export opportunities.

In other words, most farmers are prepared to sacrifice income for a while on the belief they'll make up for it down the road. Since agriculture is a highly cyclical industry, this sanguine view is understandable.

In fact, U.S. agricultural exports to China this year rebounded a bit compared with a year ago, thanks to China's recent exemptions of tariffs on U.S. soybeans and pork products...

Good things often take tome to sink in and then reap rewards of those iffy moments~~ ya know, pretty much like all politics, even tho that is not true at all~~~

This was All caused by trump. No one else. Trump screwed the whole thing up.
Trumps mistake.
Has cost the American taxpayer $12Billion given to farm conglomerates that don’t really care about growing things but are right there to collect the checks for not growing anything.
It’s called planned corporate welfare.
Republipigs all the way.
$12 Billion that could’ve been spent someplace a little more helpful to this country. Instead of taking away healthcare from Americans maybe.

If you could look at the Bigger picture here you would see a beginning of a new era. Complete with plenty of money and jobs for everybody. Think for a minute tearing out the old and replacing with newer technology.
We’ve done this several times already. Now it’s time again.
Once we get rid of Reagan’s voodoo economic nonsense we will begin making things here. Instead buying everything from China, or Bangladesh or pakistan.
You’re thinking how will we ever pay for that?.?
This is not the way to think about stimulating an economy.
Sending out checks helps but long term fails.
Enviro dollars would become the new standard not petroleum dollars.
Petroleum of course is still important and will be but by starting now to t***sition to earth friendly sources will pay off in the long run. For your kids and grandkids and great grandkids.

Would YOU go back to work?

Sonny,
This isnt about me.
This is about the lack of p**********l leadership!
The man is not qualified to be a president.
Period.
If you want to argue that point go ahead but remember everything has a crack in it

We have chain grocery stores that carry produce from around the area and even say whose farm it came from. When we lived on the ranch, we had some chickens, ducks and geese. We'd hatch some of the chicken and duck eggs and eat the rest. We also had a milk cow, a Jersey, and some dairy goats. We would milk them by hand, so we had a greater appreciation for the milk. I'd shoot a couple of deer in the fall for meat and knew someone who raised cattle and we would buy a side of beef from him. We also had a good sized garden and raised some veggies. Don't have that anymore. Due to my wife's health issues, we bought a house in a small town (under 900 people). The last two years have not been good for gardening, too wet last year and too hot and dry this year. It's just the two of us now so the grocery bill is not too much of a sticker shock.

You think you have all the answers. You don't. You DO have a lot of l*****t talking points to regurgitate over and over in all your rants, though.

Who did you blame before Trump was elected? Because all that toxic sludge has been dumped into rivers and streams by big corporations for decades....not just in the past 3-1/2 years. If you think that all started when Trump was elected, then you must believe in Santa Claus!

AOC complained when someone asked her about the price of the Green New Deal....she said the cost doesn't matter. HOW do you think America is going to foot the cost of renovating every building, getting rid of combustible engines, zero gas emissions, create high-wage jobs, (getting rid of cows - lol!) etc.?? Estimates are around $93 Trillion dollars. If you think taxpayers can afford that, then you must believe in the tooth fairy!

In case you haven't got it yet - you live in a fantasy world.

Go ahead and call me names...it doesn't phase me one bit. And deny it if you want, but this so-called p******c (I call it a h**x) is over. There are jobs opening up everywhere. You can look online and see for yourself, or just sit under your rock and deny it, but people ARE going back to work. Here is just one site that has almost 375,000 job offers: https://www.indeed.com/q-Job-Openings-jobs.html . And here is just one of those jobs:

Director, Strategic Planning - Real Estate
Indeed 4.3
New York, NY 10036 (Midtown area)
$172,000 - $224,000 a year
Easily apply
11 days ago·Save job

And just to reiterate, the $600 unemployment benefit that the Dems want to extend was to keep people at home!

AGAIN:...I'll put it in caps so you might get it this time:

DEMOCRATS WANT PEOPLE TO STAY AT HOME (EXTEND THE $600) AND REMAIN DEPENDENT ON THE GOVERNMENT.

REPUBLICANS WANT PEOPLE TO GO BACK TO WORK AND BE DEPENDENT ON THEMSELVES.

If you can't understand what's wrong with more and more people becoming dependent on the government and staying unemployed, then I can't help you.

I seem to remember that Obama and Biden said our jobs were not coming back. Then when Trump ran for POTUS, Obama said what's he gonna do, wave a magic wand? Evidentially, we discovered that Trump had that magic wand!
So, you want to tell us after all that jobs won't come back garbage, that we'll start making thing over here ...AGAIN!! Have you not noticed that we are already doing that?
