Today at the C****av***s hearing Dr Redfield emphasized how it is important for kids to go to school in person ....Besides of better learning , he also said that child abuse cases are up due to lockdown .....Also let's not forget that not all families can afford computer for online classes...So there are a lot of reasons to open schools ,but if schools decide no to follow advice, parents should get the money back so they can decide what to do with their money ......What do you guys think? Should schools be open safety ?

What is a safe opening? In high school, you have a closed classroom packed with 30 plus kids. So you can't social distance and if that's not bad enough you have a lunchroom rotating 400 kids every hour. One kid can infect an entire school that could infect an entire community.

As for computers, schools will issue Chrome books so remote learning isn't as big a problem as you are making it out to be. I'm not saying that homeschooling is the optimal solution but it might be the best solution until the v***s is under control. You need to remember that every time we get impatient the v***s surges, and as Herman Cain reminded us--this is a v***s that K**LS.

Look,we can put a man on a moon , but we can't open safely schools for our kids????Really ? ?? How about plexiglass between students and teachers ??? How about making smaller classes so you can social distancing ??? Maybe have two classes one in the morning and one in the afternoon so it would be easier to social distancing .... How about wearing masks for kids and teachers , especially for older kids ?? I mean there are a lot you can do if you have a brain and you want to teach!!!!

PR, I do agree with much of this post..all kids would be better if in a real class room rather then at home.. for the rasons you point out and a number of others as well..

But it is not to die for... if not safe, do not do it..

as for added cost for home school, computers etc,, they should not return any money of this sort.. many kids in Minnesota already get computers so extra cost in not nearly a much as one would think..

So.. wh**ever process is used, all must be safe, students, teachers and staff.. bus drivers.. etc..

In our state, after a month of debate, the ruling was that each county would handle this as a local issue.. that took a month of jabbering to decide on... government at work..

proud, The CDC has said that children under ten carry far more c***d19 in their mouths and nasal passages than adults. F***i said it is reasonable to assume that they will spread this v***s to their parents and grandparents very easily.
As a former teacher, I know that I would never go back to work until this p******c is over. I would never take the chance of catching this disease, and/or bring it home. The sooner we do what we have to do to end this p******c, the less economic damage will be done, and the less suffering and death will occur.
We will need to shut down businesses, issue mandatory wearing of masks whenever we leave home, practice social distancing, produce enough tests for tracing the v***s, and stay home unless we need food. There isn't going to be mandatory going back to brick and mortar schools until this p******c is under control.
School systems can lend students computers. The federal government can give funds to states to buy them. When bought in quantity, they are very reasonable.

That seems a bit extreme, maybe you should fact check that..

My State plans on opening schools on 24th of August. Here's the problem; Using the State's safety protocols, student athletes engaging in training sessions prior to opening have contracted C***d19. All of these were outside activities, so what happens when students follow the same protocols...................................inside?

The CDC is totally unreliable, providing contradictory "guidance" and science free advice. This is going to be another tragedy in the category of "we should have known better". BTW, our governor says that a positivity rate of less than 10% among students and faculty is acceptable. Here's the problem; any positive cases means that the entire school population has been exposed to the v***s in close quarters, since it takes 24 - 48 hours for test results to come in, and 7 - 10 days for symptom to appear. Remember, people infected with the v***s can shed the v***s BEFORE symptoms appear......................if they appear at all.
