I don’t think it works that way. I was immunized when I worked at the animal rehabilitation hospital, but that was 40 years ago.

It was sort of a joke. I really don't get sick easy. Rabies might do it.

Coming home from the store late one night we had a surprise waiting at the end of our driveway. The bridge was closed east of us for repairs, so there was no oncoming traffic and the road to the west was marked local traffic only. I don't remember if it was cloudy or there was no moon, but it was pitch black. As I got close to the driveway, we could see shapes in the road. For wh**ever reason, my wife thought the shadows looked like her ducks walking around. She yelled at me to stop so we could herd the 'ducks' the quarter mile back up to the house. I didn't see ducks, I saw skunks. She started to get mad and yell at me when I didn't stop, then she saw her 'ducks' were skunks. We ended up laughing about it later.

Yep. The skunks that got too big to live in the floor of my house moved to my barn.

One winter eve around duskish I took a flake of hay out to the horse pasture. I realized as I walked the beaten path through the grass there were three skunks within three feet of the path.

I walked between them, fed the horse and walked back between them.

They paid no attention to me.

Well if you do get rabies, make sure you have a list of people you don’t like.

When I was in the Peace Corps in West Africa, they used to give us shots for rabies. The shots gave us an extra day or two to start the normal shots. We had a couple of Volunteers have to get the series because they held a puppy, who licked them, and was found to be rabid.

I got my rabies v******tion because the veterinarian I worked for did wildlife rehabilitation. Along with having my dog tag form the Coast Guard on my key chain, I’ve actually got a real rabies tag.
