The courts have refused to decide the cases by a full blown trial on the merits. The cases were dismissed on reasons of legal technicalities. Until a trial on the merits is conducted, there will be endless new cases on the same issue because there is no ‘res judicata’ yet.

Yes - trump was impeached. Obviously you don't know - or don't care about - what the word means. So, just to be nice and help you understand what happened in Congress to Trump, here's a definition of the word "impeach":

To "impeach" in the United States is the process by which a legislature (usually in the form of the lower house - i.e., the House of Representatives in Trump's case) charges a civil officer of government for crimes alleged to have been committed.

So yes, Trump was CHARGED with two crimes. And he was ACQUITTED of both charges in the upper house - The US Senate, in Trump's case.

So here's a definition of "acquit", just so you understand: "To free someone (Trump) from a criminal charge by a verdict of not guilty".

So to be crystal clear, so you comprehend fully what happened, Trump was charged (impeached) with two crimes, and then he was acquitted (found not guilty) of those two charges.

Dems never mention that all impeached means is that he was charged with something. The word that really matters, that Dems "forget" all the time is "acquit". They just don't want to admit that Trump was acquitted (found not guilty), and therefore freed of the charges.
