ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis couple who became worldwide news after waving guns at protesters outside their Central West End home last month were charged Monday with gun crimes, despite pushback against the investigation from Jefferson City to Washington.
Mark and Patricia McCloskey each are facing a single felony count of unlawful use of a weapon — exhibiting. Charging documents say he pointed an AR-15 rifle at protesters and she wielded a semiautomatic handgun, placing those protesters in fear of injury.
Charging documents say investigators conducted "numerous" witness interviews and relied on video footage and McCloskeys' own statements about the June 28 incident.
In a statement, St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kimberly M. Gardner said, “It is illegal to wave weapons in a threatening manner at those participating in nonviolent protest, and while we are fortunate this situation did not escalate into deadly force, this type of conduct is unacceptable in St. Louis.

They were verbally threatened. Their response to serious verbal threats gives them a legitimate right to draw weapons. If the threats were carried out there may have been funeral services for a couple in St Louis!

The prosecutor after reviewing the evidence and interviewing witnesses disagrees.

" Vigilante couple "

This prosecutor needs to be fired. The Governor has said he may pardon the couple.

Breaking through an iron gate and ignoring a no trespassing sign is not non violent. The prosecutor is a liberal Democrat hack who probably only interviewed other "protestors."

Assault legally is:
threatening harm.

It would seem that by tearing down the front gate would indicate physical harm may be coming.

This is why we have the 2nd amendment.

Apparently, according to Democrats, protecting your own property makes you a vigilante. Remember that language has changed and a"word shall mean what I want it to mean, nothing more, nothing less"

So now the "Peaceful Protesters" are "Nonviolent Protesters" what will they be called next week? "Not Quite Violent", "Faux Violent Protesters", "T***sitioning Protesters", "Baby-Step Protesters", "Less Violent Protesters"?

You illegally break-in to PRIVATE PROPERTY, you are committing a CRIME! If you are doing it as a Protester, you are now a "Criminal Protester"! PLUS, the news media has completely dropped from their reporting the FACT that the "protesters" were marching to protest in front of the Mayor's home, but the Mayor DID NOT LIVE in that PRIVATE neighborhood! She lived a mile & a half away and there was NO ACCESS to her home through this private property....so WHY WERE they there??

A group of expats planned a B*M protest in Shanghai a couple of weeks ago... It didn't get past the planning stage... Some nations have no love for the rampant vandalism and violence that these "peaceful" protests bring...

The couple had every right to defend their property... Good for hem...

Y'all don't like it when ya can't go wild, eh

I think it would be great if all the people who support the vigilantes move right to Shanghai to enjoy the police state they long for.

Funny how if you threaten to k**l or destroy the property of a Congressman, you will spend a very long time in a federal prison. Do the same to an American couple whose only option is to attempt to defend themselves, the couple gets charged. The Democrats have filled official offices with left wing democrats who will rule on the opposite to what is expected. They want to make everyone afraid to stand up for their God given rights and beat people down into submission!
