All this week, every TV network's world news (there's an oxymoron) has played up the number of C****-** cases in the U.S. 3 million cases, 120,000+ deaths from the v***s (or is that for everyone who died with the v***s but from other causes. But they play this up as if it is the end of the world. Perhaps it is because of the collateral damage to many families and lost jobs. Don't misunderstand me. I am sympathetic to those who have lost love ones to the v***s and this is tragic. By the same token, nearly every person I see on TV who is recovering from C****-** or has lost a loved one looks like they have underlying health issues. Age, pre-existing immune-deficiency, overweight (is one very apparent characteristic of most), diabetes, and so forth. We have become a fat and unhealthy nation. Life expectancies are actually decreasing after they recently reached their peak for Americans, but lower than many other countries. Ethnicity also plays a big role because of socio-economic conditions indicate access and availability to good health care as well as other factors such as poor diets consisting of less nutritious and wholesome food.

Putting this in perspective, by comparison, the Spanish Flu p******c of 1918, over a half-million Americans died, mostly men in their twenties. Our population was approximately 100 million then (about 1/3 of what it is today) so by today's standard that would mean one and one-half million deaths, about 1200% more deaths from Spanish Flu. Of course, we didn't have the extensive medical infrastructure wh have today nor the knowledge of modern science we have today. Don't wait for a v*****e. There are lots of v***ses that they have never found a v*****e for. And no one has invented a money tree. Many people are hurting just as bad as if they had the v***s because they no longer have the means to support themselves and their families. The government cannot create wealth out of thin air, nor by printing more money, nor by redistribution of wealth. If it could, LBJ's Great Society programs of the 1960s would have ended poverty. What ends poverty is Capitalism, the single more important mechanism for lifting more people out of poverty in the 20th Century. Nothing else has ever been found that works better. Well, at least they are still alive, unlike the millions k**led by the l*****t totalitarian regimes. Can you call this living?

We need to send children back to school, open businesses, get back to living, all while taking a modicum of prevention to minimize unnecessary risk. Nothing in life is risk-free but the left would like to have you believe that that can create a utopia, one without any risk. One where big-government will take care of you from cradle to grave and everyone will sing kumbaya. Unfortunately, liberty-loving people cannot live this way. They, and nearly all humankind, need the freedom to pursue their own happiness and take responsibility for their own actions and behavior. God gave us free-will and self-determination so that we would not be ens***ed to others. Yet, this is the direction the l*****ts are taking us with their A****a and B*M movements. They think they know what is best for everyone, They do not. Neither does some bureaucrat in Washington. Leave me alone and let me live my life while you live yours. Undo the shackles of government that have slowly and incrementally encroached into our lives, leading to more tinkering with the system to keep correcting the mistakes of over-regulation and bigger government. The corrections always lead to more untended consequences that are worse than the cure. Case in point. The lockdown because of C****-**. If you are a high risk of contracting or succumbing to C****-**, take the necessary precautions, stay home, wear PPE, don't gather in large groups, wash your hands and keep them away from your face, and follow all the other admonitions that the CDC has recommended. But mostly, live and let live.
