Hold Your Governor Accountable for C****-** Deaths in Nursing Homes

The governors of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and California chose to ignore the timely issued, very specific guidelines provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regarding the containment of the c****av***s in nursing homes and long-term care facilities. Instead, these governors chose to mandate that nursing homes admit untested and contagious C****-** patients from hospitals.

Not coincidentally, these states saw a disproportionate increase in the deaths of elderly residents in nursing homes:

New York has suffered 6,360 nursing home deaths related to C****-**. That is more than 25% of the State’s total C****-** deaths.
New Jersey has suffered 6,432 nursing homes deaths related to C****-**. That is more than 50% of the State’s total C****-** deaths.
Pennsylvania has suffered 4,268 nursing home deaths related to C****-**. That is more than 68% of the State’s total C****-** deaths.
Michigan has suffered 2,297 nursing home deaths related to C****-**. That is more than 41% of the State’s total C****-** deaths.
California has suffered 2,560 nursing homes deaths related to C****-**. That is more than 50% of the State’s total C****-** deaths.
AMAC is working with the Republicans on the Select Subcommittee on the C****av***s Crisis (the Democrat Subcommittee members refused to hold these governors accountable) to demand answers for the mandates these governors issued, and we need your help. We want to make sure that bad policy decisions, like the ones these governors made, are not repeated should there be a resurgence of the c****av***s.

Please take a moment to email your governor to ask them to explain why they made these lethal decisions. Particularly, we would like to know:

Why did they specifically break federal guidance/recommendations and put infected patients back in nursing homes?
What science and other information did they use as a basis to make this decision?
Will they comply with federal guidelines moving forward?
