That attitude is one of the major problems with liberals. It all supports business, probably true. Who do you think gives out all the jobs besides the Government which is overblown beyond reason. If business does well, so do the people. If for instance a business gets a large write off for purchasing capital equipment, then they are more likely to make that purchase especially if that tax break has a time limit. If they purchase the equipment in large amounts by many businesses, then the manufacturer of the equipment will need to make more. Means the manufacturer needs to hire more people. Means the supporting businesses for the manufacturer needs to hire more people for their part of the supply chain On and on. Those are the best job producing programs out there and the whole economy wins. If you think about it just a little, then you will discover each one of these programs would have produced enough jobs where we wouldn't be in the financial mess we are in now.

I am pro business, but I am also pro union.

Our taxes on businesses are outrageous. But nowhere is anyone proposing to lower those taxes. These businesses need to be regulated. If they are not, they will pollute the air and water. Some pollution is unavoidable, but it should be minimized.

Businesses should be required to pay a living wage. That is why we need unions. A well fed worker will do a better job than a hungry serf.

So, what is a living wage. $10 per hour may be a living wage for a single guy living at home. It certainly isn't a living wage for a family of 4. That's a ridiculous argument. A living wage for me is about $50k per year. So, should I be able to work at McDonald's and expect the mean old franchise owner at McDonalds to pay me $50k per year? Why not, after all they owe me a "living wage" right.
A business should pay what a business wants to pay. Not what some bureaucrat tells it too. If I pay someone 8$ per hour and a similar company pays a similiar job $10 per hour, who do you think I'm going to work for? It's a stupid argument. The market will determine what I pay someone or else I won't have any employees working for me. The Free Market works everytime. Not some government official imposing something on what I pay or what I charge. If they want to demand that I pay some amount by law, isn't it fair then that I can demand that they insure me that I make a certain dollar profit. Or would that be out of line? Of course it is, so is a living wage.

Then you are an i***t that that is blind in one eye and can't see out of the other. Try looking a little harder and you will see quite a few that directly affect workers. You progressives really are i***ts. You can't near anything you don't want to hear and can't see anything you don't want to see.

"Save American Workers Act (H.R. 2575) repeals the 30-hour trigger for ObamaCare’s employer mandate tax, and restores the 40-hour work week to increase workers’ wages. (passed 248-179)"

How about this one? Does this not affect workers like you want? It gives many a 40 hour work week back that directly effects workers and you say there is nothing for the working class. Try reading them and you will find more just like this one. Quit being an i***t and try waking up for once and smell the roses. You just may get out and find out what Obama has been up to that is k*****g America. It's either that, or you can remain a stupid kool-aid drinking progressive that is helping to destroy this country.

Unions are about as useless as a hat rack on a Elk. The unions fat cats donate billions to Obama and the rest of his sewer rats plus a nice piece of change for their corrupt pockets. What is supposed to be the purpose of "union Dues"? A valuable worker does not need a union but lunch hour pot smokers do. Wake up liberal i***t. Unions push business, business hires robots and employees go on food stamps Way to go dim dum.

America has a middle class because of unions. Unions should not be allowed to donate to political campaigns. Neither should employers.

UPDATED AS OF FRIDAY, JULY 11, 2014

Many Americans today see our economy stuck in a new normal, and know that we can do better. That's why the House have passed dozens of pro-growth jobs bills to get government out of the way and secure the American Dream. Here, you can learn more about our solutions, read the bills, and keep tabs on our progress.

Northern Route Approval Act (H.R. 3) approves the Keystone pipeline, as well as the thousands of jobs that would result, and removes legal and regulatory obstacles that could delay its construction for years. (passed 241-175)

Offshore Energy & Jobs Act (H.R. 2231) opens the most resource-rich areas to new offshore energy production, and requires the Obama administration to move forward with lease sales that have been delayed or canceled, providing the energy needed to revitalize manufacturing, create jobs, and restore our nation of builders. (passed 235-186)

Protecting States’ Rights to Promote American Energy Security Act (H.R. 2728) prevents the Obama administration from imposing costly, duplicative, and job-k*****g regulations on hydraulic fracturing, a type of energy production that is fueling economic growth and jobs in states that have effectively regulated it for years. (passed 235-187)

Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act (H.R. 1900) expedites the development of critical infrastructure needed to accomodate increased natural gas production, and the thousands of jobs that come with it. (passed 252-165)

National Strategic and Critical Minerals Production Act (H.R. 761) streamlines the permitting process and reduces red tape to facilitate the development of strategic and critical minerals used to support American manufacturing jobs. (passed 246-178)

Coal Residuals Reuse and Management Act (H.R. 2218) prevents the administration from implementing new, one-size-fits-all coal ash regulations, and calls for a state-based approach that would protect the environment, the economy, and American jobs. (passed 265-155)

Bureau of Reclamation Conduit Hydropower Development Equity and Jobs Act (H.R. 1963) removes outdated statutes to facilitate the development of new hydropower project on federal land, helping to address energy costs for families and small businesses, and create jobs. (passed by voice v**e)

Lowering Gasoline Prices to Fuel an America that Works Act (H.R. 4899) promotes more onshore and offshore energy production. (passed 229-185)

I am not sure what you are ranting about or who? This post was in answer to someone who said the House hasn't done anything to help improve the economy by making legislation for job growth. These are laws that were approved by the House and sent to the Senate where Mr. Harry Reid k**led most of them without even allowing a v**e by the Senate. In other words, the Democratic lead Senate is the one k*****g the economy and blocking job availability, not the Republicans.

Not a well thought out comment. Unions are by nature member organizations. Unless the membership v**es to make donations to one party or the other, then the contributions are not in accordance with the member's who pay the dues' intentions. Companies on the other hand have a vested interest in the results of e******ns. Ever hear of the concept of "taxation without representation"? If you don't want them participating in the democratic process, then lets do away with corporate taxation.

Back to the topic at hand - You may not support any of the bills the House passed in its entirety but two conclusions can be made about the fact that they are stalled. (1) You cannot say that the House has not made an attempt to address the issues, and (2) By pigeon holing them, Reid is unilaterally making a decision that the Democrats won't even considering negotiating the parts they don't feel comfortable with.

For any topic that can be based on political ideology, I would not expect Democrats to pass something that Republicans would fully be on board for... and vice versa. But that is why the Congress is mandated so that if passed by one chamber and rejected in another, conference committees are to be formed to work out differences. By not bringing the House bills to the floor, Reid is saying, "not our way, so we won't even bring it up for discussion". Thus, as this thread is trying to point out, describing Republicans as the obstructionist party is misleading and dishonest.
