A humorous true story for golf fans

For those of you unfamiliar with Bruce Edwards, Edwards began caddying for Tom Watson in 1973 and worked with him until 1989. Edwards left to assist Greg Norman but returned to Watson's side in 1992 and stayed until 2003. That year, he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease) but continued to caddie for Watson until the strain became too much.

At Edward's wedding, which many caddies (who are generally notorious for having fun) attended, one unnamed looper showed up a little late and with a large(ish) stain on his jacket. Watson, being the hard-ass he has always been and forever will be, pulled the said caddie aside at first chance and ripped into him.... "How can you show up at Bruce's wedding late? How can you show up at his wedding with that big stain on your jacket? You are disrespecting my longtime friend. You should apologize to Bruce."

Later that night, while all the caddies were gathered at the local watering hole, they decided on a most fitting tribute to their friend, Bruce Edwards. They created a new one day 18 hole golf tournament that would be held every year (and still is to this day as far as I know) the week of the AT&T Pebble Beach championship. The winner, in lieu of donning the coveted Green jacket associated with The Masters, earns the 365 day privilege of donning the (hopefully) soon to be famed "Stained Jacket". Anyone who launders it or has it dry cleaned receives an immediate lifelong ban from further competition in the event.
