To the best of my knowledge, I have never felt lonely or bored: am I mentally ill?

I think you are more right than wrong...his whole post cries for attention, you have to have some degree of loneliness to reach out like that! Seems like a denial of self. It has always amazed me at how unaware people are of themselves, usually diminishes some with age!

Learning who we are and facing who we really are is not easy. We humans are experts at denying what we don't want to admit or face. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Its a lifelong venture.

I spent over 6 weeks alone, camping in the mountains of California, never saw another person. I was never bored or lonely. I built my camp, started a garden, collected food from the woods. I was very alone. But not lonely. Plenty of free time, but never bored.
Some people think fishing is boring. Good, leaves more fish for me.

Haha, I hear ya. My feelings exactly. Did 3 weeks on the Appalachian Trial: liberating

You sound sane to me. To be bored is to be stagnant. You make friends and eventually you and they develop different needs and you remember and enjoy the memory but make new friends of the moment. Life evolves. Look at a pond with no fresh water flowing into it. It becomes green and develops a scum, no one swims there but avoids it. Watch a sunset, the light constantly changes. Bored is watching a rock. There are rocks in Death Valley that do move but most rocks are boring. People who are bored just don't know how to live. Might as well be rocks.
You sound sane to me. To be bored is to be stagna... (show quote)

Wow, thank you.

I would say this is just another disingenuous post on your part.

Everyone has felt lonely or bored in their lives - even if just for a short time. Denying it is either lack of awareness or simple dishonesty.

Okay. You may be right that there have been moments unremembered of brief loneliness or boredom. Yet the simple t***h is that you cannot possibly know this is true of me or anyone, just not your experience. But wh**ever. Let your baseless insinuations rule. Why do you h**e me so much?

I agree. Or you could take it as true honesty and concern. You made your choice.

Not baseless. From what I've seen you're not honest with yourself. And I don't h**e you so you can stop with that drama.

Ah, that could explain all of it.

The human animal is a social creature by genetic mandate. That means that loneliness is built into us by nature. If you honestly can say you have never experienced loneliness, the only possibility is that you are so into yourself that the rest of humanity is utterly peripheral to your emotional focus.

My mind cannot conceive of either and my heart is perplexed. Why or how can anyone feel that way? I have never missed anyone, even when in the Service at 19. Yes, missed the food somewhat but not my family. They were there. All living their lives. What's to miss? Friends? Same thing. There is much to think about so how can someone be bored? And imagination does wonders. So many worlds to explore. Being bored to me is a lazy and self-centered mind. Yet that does not mean my attitude is right. It is so common to feel those things that I must be missing something. Right? But neither make any sense to me. Foolishness.

I wouldn't say that's mentally ill. Do it (be in the service well I was married in my forties) for close to 50 years and then you really start to wonder.

I have never felt jealousy. Envy, constantly.

We humans are "experts at denying what we don't want to admit or face," others are not but welcoming of the challenge. What is true for you is not true of everyone.

If you recall, I did say "to the best of my knowledge..." Just saying. You may not h**e me, that is questionable, but you frequently make highly negative comments about me. Coincidence?

Okay. There are always exceptions to the rule...except if you are on the Right.

I know what you said. Who knows why you aren’t honest.
