I kid you not. I've rescued 2 gopher snakes so far this week!

Poor things! They're so vulnerable!

My cats are hell on the rodents...there are none on this property. They have to import them from the neighbors.

We have plenty of lizards, though. I'm constantly rescuing them.

Not that I've seen but we have plenty of others...some pretty big.

Seems like I remember seeing blue tailed lizards in Florida.

Tons of jackrabbits and cottontails. Lots of those little spotted antelope squirrels too.

In fact, there's a baby one in an ammo box next to me as I type.

Walked out the back door to have a puff on my seegar and something chirped. I thought it was a bird in the mulberry above my head and then noticed the squirrel on the driveway.

I picked it up and took it in the house with me. It was in shock and cold, too, I think. Had some fur peeled off its tail and a little gash above one ear.

Doctored its tail and head with a little Basic H and SGC solution and gave it a little milk from a dropper.

Held it in one hand and kept it close to my body until it warmed up and the shock kinda wore off.

I've saved a bunch of them from the cats and never once has one tried to bite me. I always handle them with my bare hands.

Now it's in an ammo box nest for the night. They're daytime animals.

It got pretty lively there for a bit. I crunched up some walnuts and put a few cat food crumbs in with it but I think its belly's full of milk.

Oh! It's chirping again. I was just about to say I thought it might be asleep.

In the morning I'll take it out and let it go in the cactus but it better wise up. We have 7 cats.

The reason I asked we have them here cats love to try and catch them problem they have a poison sack under the base of their tail. Cost me several hundred dollars in vet bills he told me most cat die from it but he gave mine an antibiotic he thought might work she had seizures and was never quite right after

Tooooo cute!!! Your a good daddy to take such good care.. Full tummy, warm and a good rest may keep it coming around, hope the cats welcome it...

Little critters are fun to watch playing... Like the bunnies jumping up n down chasing each other with their mexican stand off stare down..lolololl

Mother nature sure can give us some miraculous things just to watch and enjoy...πŸ˜‹πŸ₯°

Grandaddy called them "scorpions", if I remember right.

Being from California, I thought he was nuts.

I walk around barefoot on these two+ acres and anyone who wants to see scorpions, come to my house and we'll tour the yard at night with a black light.

Thousands of the buggers!

My patient was wide awake and ready to go this morning. I gave it a little more milk and let it go in my monster firewood pile.

Worked out better than I thought it would.

I'm easily amused. I can sit on my ass in my driveway and pick perfect iron pyrite cubes out of the gravel. Little turquoise nuggets too.

The cats use them for toys when they get big enough.
