Note: C'mon right-wing types, you can stay out of one thread, can't you? You are the overwhelming majority party here. Let us dissidents have one space. Please?
This thread is intended to be a space where the minority doesn't have to worry about being attacked, or just told they're stupid.
One political plaza doesn't have a thread like this, it's open warfare and while that can be FUN, only when I want to. I don't want to have to worry, several of whom I have had to report will come in and trash this thread, just because they can.
I'd like to have a little place where I don't have to read the evangelical right wingers words, telling me...well..anything, really.
I also intend this to be a place for childfree people. The hammering I got when I brought up not having had kids was, frankly, full of breeder bingo "You'll never know true love," and other such bingo. I'd like a place where I don't have to read about that.
I go back all the way to being a baby and abused as I've described elsewhere. For as long as I can remember, I had no interest being a parent and in fact, really couldn't stand my urban contemporaries. I was 6'3" at age 14 so I was a target for every bully in the school (Berkeley High School West Campus). Finally, I snapped, picked out the worst one and went to town on him. He had to be taken to the ER with a fractured skull. Blood out his ears and all that.
I learned something that day: You can make me angry but don't piss me off. Pissed-off is red mist, angry is just a step up from annoyed. Different frames of mind, at least in my world.
The principal sidled up to me and said, "They finally got to you, eh?" At the time I was still in the red mist and shouted "You want some too, assh*le?" I went after him and my math teacher was in the room and restrained me. I respected my math teacher so I let myself relax.
So by the time I was in high school, I was a full-on early articulator. Staff kids mostly gravitated toward the girls (this was a Quaker boarding school out in the sticks near Grass Valley) which was a good thing. Another math teacher was my best friend on the whole campus. Taught me how to be a man.
