I disagree with you that Independent Voters are confused. I don't belong to what I consider the ONE-PARTY voters. To me that is the Rep/Dem or the Dem/Rep party. I tried that when I first voted sixty some years ago and learned quickly that they only want you to give them money. Independents think about, ponder, and opt for the best candidate. I don't believe we have a two party system but we actually have a dog and pony show to keep us pacified into believing that we do.

Yes, we have a "dog and pony" show with a stiff admission price. I have never voted a straight ticket as I pick and choose at the local and state level. Often times I have met the local and state candidates in person and I must admit that I have, many times, voted for personalities. I believe Independents are easily swayed on single issues.

I will just agree to disagree with you. I have watched and heard him speak and the untruths that come from his mouth don’t come through the media first. So, I will just have to agree that we disagree on that one.
Also, it doesn’t matter what the platform is it seems anymore in the political arena. Every side strong arms the other. Laws are changed to make it right for the time or side or set of people wanting it. Seems like this world just gets more and more jacked up by the day.

One often hears what they want to hear.

Independents are no more confused than anyone else. Maybe less so than those belonging to either of the big parties. There isn't all that much difference between the two parties. One is working for the left and a one-world government with government solutions to every problem while they also wear their emotions on their sleeve. The other is filled with RINOs who go along with the left because they think they are being non-partisan and reaching across the divide to bridge the gap between the two. They call this cooperation but it is one-sided. The left will pursue their agenda to gain power and control no matter what. The Rinos also want power and control and think there will be a place for them in the NWO. Ha-Ha-Hah. They just be another useful idiot to the left. The dog and pony show is put on by the media.

While I can agree a platform can give focus and get some things done, truth and fairness sometimes outweigh platform. Truth means more to me personally than any political opinion. Honesty should be the platform all political decisions are based on and if there is no truth there is no foundation. No foundation leaves any platform on shaky legs those legs at some point will collapse. Truth is something lacking in our government that should be restored for without truth, our governments word is worthless and leaves the people without trust. Many apparently don't associate truth with politics and take a hard look where that has go us as a country.

Truth is hard to come by in politics. Politics can only be judged by deeds. I want action like I want the border closed, I want the country deregulated to where business can do business and I want to quit giving tax money to countries who hate us, also I want to quit financing world organizations who play us for suckers. President Trump is accomplishing those goals. I really don't care how nice he is in telling you what he is doing.

I am going to give this a try, as I have never participated in this type of forum before.
My main issue is our country’s leader. I have no use for that person. I try to understand what his supporters see in him. Why they support such a deceitful person. Do they allow their family members to be deceitful to them, or their co-workers, their clergy???? If they do, God really needs to help us. If they don’t, what makes them accept it from him.

You should look at your States leaders first to find deceit and corruption. Illinois politically is the armpit of the Country. Look in your own back yard before complaining about others. Mike

The thing is that he is telling us what he is doing and going to do. If that's called lying, so be it. Mike

President Trump is telling us what he plans to do and he is getting it done. How can that be lying?

Use "quote reply" so that other members know which post you are addressing

I'm assuming that you're addressing mine (because it was the best )

Lots of honest politicians who are pretty useless... They honestly can't fulfill their promises... Or promote their platforms...

They're careful not to get caught in outright lies though... Just rely on hypocrisy and the poor memories of the public....

If Trump backs down on the platforms I support I'll turn on him in minute... Til then, I'll accept a little bluster ahead hominem... Even some whoppers...

If he tells you one lie, he'll tell you another until you either " turn on him" or you start to believe his lies. I'm afraid there's to many who believe the lies, that's just my humble opinion.

Are you unable to divide the lies from the truth?

People lie.. Discernment is needed...

When I hired a fellow to renovate my garage I left it in his hands... He knew what I wanted... When he was finished he swore up and down that I was going to be so impressed I'd probably give him a bonus (real subtle this fellow).. I went in, inspected the work, asked about the one thing that had been done differently (he had a good explanation) and paid him the required fee... I threw in a six pack as a bonus...

Trump talks big... Why bother to listen when one can simply look for the results?

This man is the leader of the free world, people shouldn't have to discern truth from lies. It's great you can believe without question. I would have been checking to make sure the job was done right, that way there is no discussion at the end. I pay the bill and say thank you.

Firstly, he's the leader of America... The rest of the world has their on ideas... For example, I'm Canadian... He's not my leader anymore than Obama, Bush, or Clinton were...

Secondly, you sound pretty naive... "people shouldn't have to discern truth from lies"... Really?

Thirdly, you go on to contradict yourself... We should trust people, but check up to make sure they are not lying?? I'm not renovator... I can do basic work, but need to trust the professionals for more advanced things... Having made my choice, I then need to stay out of his way while he works... Not second guess everything he does in some sad attempt to look more knowledgeable than I am..

Fourthly, the whole point of my post was that I don't believe without question... I can separate words from actions and truth from fiction... A lie is only damaging if it leads to the platforms I support not being fulfilled... You seem to assume that if an individual lies it mean they aren't fit for office... There goes 90% of Congress
