It’s something that President Trump has said many times. It should’ve been done a long time ago. It should have been stopped by previous administrations but instead it spread like wildfire. We outsourced so much to China. We need to bring our manufacturing and production jobs back home. We must stop reliance on foreign made goods, especially medicine and medical supplies. If there is one positive thing to come from the C****-** China v***s it’s that it has exposed the weakness of outsourced production and supply chain.
Trump is planning to do just that.
White House Director of Trade and Manufacturing Policy Peter Navarro confirmed Wednesday the administration is working on an executive order to eliminate the government’s reliance on foreign-made medical supplies.
This is a great start. The executive order would stop the federal government from purchasing medical supplies from China. Virtually all of the equipment and/or supplies that we would use to treat this C****av***s are made in and purchased from China.
That's a problem. Peter Navarro, the White House Director of Trade and Manufacturing, explains that this isn't just an economic move but one that bolsters our national security as well.
Additional products targeted in the order include “medical countermeasures” made to protect against chemical and biological threats, radiation, nuclear fallout and infectious diseases like c****av***s.
What were the previous administrations thinking? Who thought it would be a great idea to rely on China for things we'd need in case China, our #1 enemy, came knocking? Given the many claims that this is a bioweapon that may be exactly what happened. More proof is needed to establish that connection, in my opinion, but this certainly exposes the wide-open front door.
The US has a shortage of surgical and protective face-masks. Guess why. Yep, China restricted the export of those to manage their c****av***s crisis. President Trump has been saying for years now that we need to bring our jobs back home from China. Now, more than ever, is proof that he was right. Build American, Buy American, in the interest of national security and supporting our economy.

White House Director of Trade and Manufacturing Policy Peter Navarro confirmed Wednesday the administration is working on an executive order to eliminate the government’s reliance on foreign-made medical supplies. The “Buy American” order comes on the heels of concerns expressed by senators during their Tuesday meeting with President Donald Trump on Capitol Hill.
WASHINGTON, DC – OCTOBER 08: White House National Trade Council Director Peter Navarro
Republican Florida Sen. Marco Rubio said that during the meeting on easing c****av***s-related financial pressures on Americans, he asked Trump to support the Senate’s “efforts to invest in diversifying our supply chain, especially in pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.” The order would prevent federal agencies from purchasing medical supplies, including face masks, gloves and ventilators, from China.
As the United States has battled the domestic spread of c****av***s, consumers were alerted to the fact that China manufactures an overwhelming percentage of the federal government’s medical equipment. 90 percent of all U.S. antibiotics were manufactured in China.
China has prevented the export of surgical face masks, severely limiting supplies in the U.S. and countries around the world.“China has managed to dominate all aspects of the supply chain using the same unfair trade practices that it has used to dominate other sectors — cheap sweatshop labor, lax environmental regulations and massive government subsidies,” Navarro told New York Times. “As President Trump has said, what we need to do is bring those jobs home so that we can protect the public health and the economic and national security of the country.”
He added that the EO would cover more than 400 “essential medicines” that “satisfy the priority health care needs of the population.” Additional products targeted in the order include “medical countermeasures” made to protect against chemical and biological threats, radiation, nuclear fallout and infectious diseases like c****av***s.
“Nothing we do now will impede in any way our ability to get what we need when we need it from foreign sources,” he told CBS.
Navarro estimated the administration will announce the order in the coming weeks, adding that this is not just a medical issue but also blosters “our very national defense.”
Trump will address the nation Wednesday night to give updates on the task force’s latest efforts to combat the spread of c****av***s. In addition to the task force’s mitigation efforts, the White House has been working on a packaging a financial stimulus in recent days

You are 100% correct. Along with some congress people. Mainly Feinstein and McConnell.

We seem to be agreeing on several post lately.
This could be a test of Trumps business savvy or failures. How fast can he get self reliance, independence on medication, medical supplies? Along with other sensitive materials, steel, goods in general?
Guess we will have to see...
I'm making an educated guess but dosen't our economy rely hugely on the world economies, buying American goods? Are not the worlds economy's collapsing? Our only hope to shore up the middle class when this comes to an end is if Trump uses his magic wand and actually gets manufacturing here at home. Not just some manufacturing but in every major segment of goods needed and used by Americans.
I'm not holding my breath, but hopeful that at the very least it could be in motion.
