Soulmates

Women as objects of beauty and the promise of the delights of sex are the basic snares that men face. Men are objects of manliness, family-creating and security are the basic snares that women face. Some of the time, however, the union of man with woman becomes a total immersion of one with the other.

In my way of thinking, having a Soulmate is the zenith of relationships between a Man and a Woman, and it happens whether they are married or not. Some of the contributions to such a partnership as Soulmates are somewhat difficult to put into words, but here is one list of immediate thoughts for the set of ideas that attempt to describe it:

Love
Merged Mindsets
Merged Souls
Compatible Sexual Drives
Same Desires for Children
Same Ideas for Raising Children
Mutual Respect
Common Faith and Belief System
Common Worldview
Common Political Beliefs
Deep Mutual Commitment to the Relationship
Matching or Similar IQ's
Well-Defined Areas of Responsibility, Roles and Aptitudes
Settled Ideas About Money and Generating Income
Settled Ideas About Things; Possessions
Common Lifestyles
"Oneness"

This is not to say that all or even most of these contributions are necessary to define a relationship of Soulmates, but there must be a fully recognized working balance of some sort to compensate for deviations from the ideas as above.

Perhaps other factors come into play, since the list is obviously not all inclusive or refined in any detail. It is the ideas of Love, Respect and "Oneness" that are important...

I hadn't thought of that at all, but I suppose it does, in principle.

Yes, these are correct. There are also opposites, but everything ties together.

There are two aspects of this question: 1) the psychology of the relationship, to which the characteristics seem to apply; and 2) the religious aspect where the Christian God is against such relationships. "In principle" number (1)says yes; and number (2) says no!
