Don't really know to break this to you but a' Walleye' is a pike. As in Northern Pike and Walleye Pike.

From the national wildlife federation.

The walleye is a freshwater fish in the perch family that is a popular and commonly-stocked game fish. Walleye are long and thin, primarily gold and olive in color, with a white belly. The back is crossed with five or more black bands. They have two dorsal fins—one spiny and one soft-rayed. The walleye’s mouth is large with sharp teeth, and it has low-light vision that helps it find prey at night. Walleye are about 2.5 to 3 feet (0.75 to 0.9 meters) in length and weigh up to 10 to 20 pounds (4.5 to 9 kilograms).

You are so right. My apology. That is from listening to the locals who call them Walleye Pike. I love it when I can learn something.

I used to know a fisherman with his own boat that fished Lake Michigan often, whom shared their catch with the family. it didn't make me mad. the lake does get rough-angry at times. almost lost them once. ☹️
it's always great to learn new things, yeah we lived in Chicago at the time.

Doesn't the pike have too many bones in it and it also has a fishy taste to it as well. Walleye is easily filleted and the meat has a mild taste to it and if filleted properly there is no bones in the meat as well. I will take walleye over pike any day of the week.

Walleye is much better than Pike...

But pike can be filleted too...

I like both.. And pike fishing is more fun

I have fought northern pike for quite some time before boating it. You have to watch out for that mouth full of teeth that they posses. It is sort of what I imagine it would be lite to land a shark or something of that caliber. I was very careful removing the hooks from that northern. He was trying to tale the walleyes off of our stringer and that is how I noticed him. It actually had a good sized walleye in its mouth when I noticed him. He took line off of my real like it wasn't even on d**g. It took me over a half hour to land that beast.

Yep... They are vicious and fight well...

Was fishing for walleye with my cousin one time... He hooked a little walleye and then as he was feeling it in a little pike (maybe five pounds) hit it... He wound up with both fish...
