Many of my Trump supporter friends have asked me if I would ever vote for a conservative. Here's my answer. I don't care for Bernies politics very much at all. I am not a socialist. I believe that incentive is a very necessary part of creating a sound economy. I do believe that uncontrolled capitalism needs some regulation because of its power. If Bernie wins the Democratic nomination and was running against an honorable Republican conservative, I would vote for the Republican. I'm talking about another Eisenhower, Reagan, or Busch sr. If the Democrats nominated Donald Trump, I would not only vote Republican, but donate a bunch of bucks to beat him. I ask Republicans on OPP the same question. Under what condition would you vote for a liberal Democrat?

You run another Bill Clinton against a weak Repub like say......Romney now, and i would consider it....what makes it hard is your party is made up of fringe lefties with weird wants, from the alphabet groups to the socialist brigades.......Clinton would have to show his care for our country and not more pandering to these fringies to placate for the votes.

I can't say i like Trump as a person, but i knew he would be good for the country economically and bring with it a sense of America first........he has done more than expected with the level of resistance from the blue team.

You have not one candidate since you had like 30 that i would vote for over Trump.....the machine is running well.

Very few Democrats are socialists. Socialism is a revolutionary movement that seeks to completely change society. Liberalism is a reform movement that seeks to give working people and the middle class a chance to live the American dream. Historically they come from different groups. Socialism started out as the political movement of the working class in Europe. Liberalism started out as a movement of the European middle class, ( factory owners ) in the 1800s. These ideologies have certainly changed in the last hundred years. I'm not sure what you mean by globalist ideals. Certainly, the world is growing smaller. International trade and technology make it that way. What happens in Africa effects what happens in Vermont and vise versa. How do you think that will ever change. I'm a liberal Democrat and I neither support or oppose it. I just accept it as the way the world has developed.

I have been a liberal Democrat my entire seventy five years and have met only one Democrat that would consider himself a socialist. He recently became a Democrat when he left the Green Party. Many Democrats consider themselves liberals. There is a world of difference between liberals and socialists. Liberal ideology is a reform movement. They don't want to end capitalism, but they believe in making some regulations that give the American workers and middle class a chance to live the American dream, meaning a health plan that wouldn't destroy their savings, an education for their children, their own home, and a decent retirement. Socialism is a blanket term that refers to groups that want to replace private property with government owned means of production and distribution, or alter it. Most socialists in this country are democratic socialists which is not a communist dictatorship. I am not a socialist because I recognize the absolute necessity of incentive in the economy. I also recognize the fact that regulation is important to protect the middle class and workers. Unrestrained capitalism is so rich and powerful that they can buy politicians, and judges to protect their interests at the detriment of the people.

If they championed the platforms I care about I would vote for them...

Gabbard would have been tempting... I liked many of her platforms... Especially concerning the military... Although with the deal that Trump just signed with the Taliban I would probably continue my support for him in that arena...

Others that I care about are border security, trade, NATO, and abortion...

I am also rather happy with his defense of religious liberties...

I wish he would do more to tackle education... Devoe has been a big disappointment

I guess when I'm dead, I'll have no choice but to do just that (/sarc)! Until then, I'll vote for the party that respects and promotes family, 2 genders, pro-life, controlled legal immigration, the 2nd amendment, freedom of speech, courts that don't legislate, term-limits, voting for citizens only, better security on the southern border, less government in all areas (business, health, finance, and daily living), and no foreign wars unless it can be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the safety and security of the United States is at risk.

How does Trump respect family values? He cheated on his wife with a porn star while she was pregnant. He cheated on all his wives. He walked in on young women while they were changing during his beauty pageant. over 15 women say that he sexually assaulted them, including rape.

I do not dispute that President Trump has done things in his past that go against the way I think about marriage and family. But there is no such thing as a perfect candidate that aligns completely with the way I feel about everything. Compared to his opponents, he is much more palatable and I will vote for him in 2020. I'm certainly not voting for a socialist (who's really a Marxist), and Joe Biden's past will catch up to him long before November - although luckily for Joe, he'll be blissfully unaware as his campaign careens into the ditch. MAGA/KAG2020/America 1st!

Yep... He was a cheater... Seems like y'all have had a few cheaters in the White House...

Yep... He was a judge in a beauty contest and went into the changing room... Not a big deal... It is quite common during such pageants...

Yep... 15 women have made a claim... How many have born fruit? None you say
Well far be it for me to suggest that there are some less than scrupulous females out there who might have alternative notices for making such claims.... Can't think of any reasons hy they might make false claims... I mean it's not like he's a billionaire TV star Politician, right?

Now how does this tie into family values?
Well that's a platform... Name the policy that he supports that has harmed family values in the US?...????

In answer to the question, “Under what condition would you vote for a liberal Democrat?”, NEVER! NEVER! NEVER! NEVER! I have believed since 1968 that casting a vote for a liberal Democrat was voting for a Socialist/Communist in training. Growing up during the cold war it was the U.S.A. with its free market/capitalist (spontaneous and public society) in contradiction to the U.S.S.R. with communist (tightly controlled and closed society). It was apparent to me even in 1968 that liberal Democrats are always about “big brother” government control and government always being the final, controlled, all knowing, inflexible answer/solution to all problems. It is true at the state and local level as well. So, it was an easy decision for me to register as a Republican because in addition to supporting the need for a strong military and lower taxes, I strongly endorsed a smaller central government. I was in the Navy in 1968 (voted by absentee ballot) and I thought – as I do today - that government control and communism are synonymous. With the way the currently configured Democrat party is being controlled today the A-O-C, Warren and Sanders factions, communism is in full bloom in the (former) liberal Democrat party. Therefore, there is no candidate in the Democrat Party that will get my vote in the upcoming presidential election (nor will any Democrat get my vote at the local and state level elections). Anyone who advocates and champions voting for a person over principles of their party is irrational.

Devoe is terrible. She wants to reduce public funds and give more money to the wealthy. As a vet, I deplore Trump's tearing apart the reputations of war heroes, especially since he ducked the draft five times. He just withdrew funds for the Marine Corp, and gave the money to building the wall. Right now, this country has a real labor shortage. Why not let in more Latinos, so that the farmers will have labor to work the land? All the Latinos I know work damned hard, and send the money to their families. I call that traditional American family values.

Fit, My problem with Donald Is not so much because of his policies, although I disagree with the majority of them. My problem with him is with his behavior both in office and before he became President. One of the traditional values of conservatives that I do agree with is constraint of federal spending. I believe that Trump has spent more than any other President. I also agree with the policy of not allowing uncontrolled entry of aliens into the country. I do believe that immigrants have made this country great. Just read the poem on the Statue of Liberty. He is building the wall at an outrageous cost, he even raided money from the Defense Department. He could do as much by using technology like drones and cameras. This wall can't keep the wind out, how can it keep determined undocumented workers from going under it, around it, over it , or through it? I also believe that we should allow people seeking immunity from terrible dictators and gangs. That called humanity.
