My moral compass, well not lusting after my own daughter. As for Trump. Republicans refused to hear witnesses because they would have shown Trump guilty and they wouldn't have any cover for acquitting him. That's not what people with a moral compass do Blade. We are supposed to be a nation based on the rule of law and when you piss all over that to acquit someone who is guilty that's about as amoral as you can get! Too bad it's impossible for you to see that...
Such a shameless butchery of the t***h, Pete, I don't think a moral compass would do you much good.
The Rule of Law in America presumes an accused to be innocent until proven guilty. Assumption of guilt without due process is in direct defiance of the rule of law.
The impeachment of a POTUS is a constitutional political process.
Congress is not a criminal court.
Republicans did not refuse to hear witnesses. Republicans on the HIC and HJC heard 18 witnesses, all of whom were supposedly pro-impeachment witnesses selected by the chairmen of those committees. Republicans were prohibited from calling any defense or opposition witnesses into Schiff's star chamber sessions, they were not allowed to introduce any documents, testimonials, or witness depositions.
This is where Schiff and Nadler really screwed the pooch. In prohibiting defense witnesses and documentation from being presented during their secret sessions, those fools had little or no idea of what the defense even looked like. They were totally unprepared to face the music in the senate.
Moreover, in establishing articles of impeachment, Pelosi, Schiff, Nadler & Co. essentially ignored Article V and amended Article I, Section 4 to read
wh**ever high Crimes and Misdemeanors we can come up with. Abuse of power? Every president beginning with George Washington has abused his power to one degree or other.
Obstruction of congress? Every president beginning with George Washington has obstructed congress to one degree or other.
After a 30 day delay, when N**i Pelosi & Klan solemnly, with great reverence, as if they were t***sporting the Holy Grail on a silk pillow, marched these two traffic tickets into the senate, it was quite obvious the senate Republicans and the president's defense team did not need to hear any more witnesses.
The only ones who got pissed on were those demoprog maniacs who started this partisan fiasco.
