Genesis chapter 40
Verse 1 - 4
God was with Joseph and Joseph runs the prison. Pharaoh gets angry at the chief of the bakers and the chief of the butlers. He throws both of them in prison
Verse 5 - 8
The baker and butler both have dreams. They are sad because they have no interpreter. Joseph will interpret after God tells him what the dreams mean.
Verse 9 - 15
First is the chief butler. In his dream, he sees a vine with three branches. The grapes are ripe and pharaoh’s cup is in his hand. He crushes the grapes into the cup and gives it to pharaoh. Joseph says, the interpretation is this: Within three days you will be restored back to your old position. When you are restored, remind pharaoh of me.
Verse 16 - 19
In the baker’s dream there are three baskets on his head, filled with baked goods. Birds eat the goods out of the basket. This is the interpretation: Within three days, you shall be beheaded and crucified. The birds shall eat your flesh.
Verse 20 - 23
Things happen just as predicted, but the butler forgets about Joseph.
