proud republican, I have studied a lot of Russian literature and have a great respect for the Russian people. I am afraid that my 3rd grade language sk**ls are not up to learning the Russian language at such a late stage in life. I do think it is great that you are making these lessons available to the folks here on OPP. Wish I were younger and more language capable.

Thanks, I might be able to learn a syllable or two. I have been told that it is very difficult to t***slate Russian into English and often times much is lost in the t***slation.

“Наломать дров” – means mess up or screw up. So, if your Russian friend “наломал дров” it means he had a bit too much to drink and did something regrettable!

I took 4 semesters of Russian in college. Was able to use it when I was in St Petersburg a few years ago.

As I understand it, not only does the Russian language have more letters but the rules of grammar and the alphabet are very different . I have enough trouble with American English!!!
