Greater than all theology and dogma and doctrine (Oh, my) is joy in Christ; nothing surpasses it. There is this homily about a man standing before God for Judgment. God asks "What have you done for my Son, the Lord Jesus Christ" And the man takes nearly an hour talking about his supposed sacrifices and struggles providing soup kitchens, missionary work in the worst conditions in Africa, and 30 years of dev**ed pastoring to his congregation. The Father sat patiently through this supposed litany of good works. "That was quite impressive, God said and paused, "but was all that you did a joy?" The man was silent. Then the Father said, "You did not my son."

The True "Selfless Person" does good deeds w/out acclaim.. someone that does NOT need attention.. or recognition, he just does it because it was the right thing to do

Excellent insight, Larai. As Paul said, "Have no boast." If is joyful giving, that is a reward in and of itself. Humility in its ultimate nature. As a playful child.

Hmmmm.. Just as an aside, because I feel there is a double entendre there..I will say that there is NO politician alive or dead that did Not extol the virtues of their tenure.. "Normal"... what ever that is.. they need the recognition.. Presidents do.. Politicians of all ilks and even business men gone politician are going to extol their virtues.. I have watched the stock market.. and jobs numbers... and that speaks for itself... But.. I refuse to be drawn into a political conversation at this time.. all I am simply asking is that you admit that politicians extol their virtues to show the people that they are doin the job they were v**ed in to do..doesn't matter the denomination... democrat or republican...

If one doesn’t know or understand what it means to be saved then one can have no joy in Christ. Its not an emotional experience which is what most want.
