A Formal Apology

I just want to take a minute to formally apologize to every one of you on this forum. For the last three days I have been drinking. I have posted some h**eful inappropriate topics. I am ashamed of my behavior and am truly sorry if I offended any of you or hurt any of you with my stupid, sometimes h**eful comments.
I am guilty of making inappropriate comments even when I'm sober but much worse when drinking.
I may disagree with some of you here but do not want to be hurtful to anyone.
I will attempt to be more responsible in the future, but if I cannot then I may have to remove myself from the forum altogether.
I am truly sorry if I have offended or harmed any of you.

You're not alone. I had to admit to myself about 12-13 years ago that alcohol is not something I could socially enjoy any longer.

Rufus, apology accepted, from me at least, although I'm not sure that you've said anything to offend me, personally. I quit drinking in 2002 so I wish you continued success with your struggles, against drinking. I don't know about others, on this forum, but I get a kick out of how some posters go after others personally. But rest assured that, for me, I've been called every name in the book. And I can usually give as good as I get. Now the only thing, at least for me, would not be what names you call me, but rather any threats that may be made, other than that, we're good. And don't feel too bad if you can't control yourself sometimes, we all make mistakes. I know I've had a huge change in the way I post. I often attack a poster and then go back over my post and remove all personal comments and try to make my post generic and stick to a particular point of view. But even then I slip up, and make mistakes. So Rufus, if you're a Conservative, go ahead and call me every name in the book, I can take it, I'm a Liberal.

Big step for you. Alcohol is a sneaky drug. I grew up in an alcoholic environment and know how easy it is to slip and how hard to battle.

I thought you were in pain from some of the things you have said. They were things that you were not normally prone to saying. Since I have been through a lot of personal pain the last few weeks and have not always used my judgement as I should I can fully understand. We all have our own nightmares. I have been using OPP to air some of them regarding by brother's life and death, which angered a few people, so I appreciate your problem. Use this time to sort out which form of help would work best for you, but ALWAYS include God in this decision.

There's not a person on OPP I suspect that hasn't said "something" here that they wish they hadn't have said -- not a soul. I think it was courageous of you to be a truly standup guy. Not a soul out there should even think about casting the first stone. I had such a nuclear meltdown several years ago online that it still haunts me. I was stone cold sober by the way. You know, that's the downside of the Internet. Once you hit send, it's sent -- except that here on OPP, if you're quick enough -- you can take it back. I can't tell you how many times I've had to do "quick" edits and "hope" that no one saw my initial thoughts!! None of us are perfect -- that's what makes us human.:wink:
As to your issue with alcohol -- I truly understand. My extended and immediate family have issues, my husband being one. I know first hand what a struggle it is. I have watched my husband's painful struggle for years. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
