Democratic congressmen from Virginia are threatening sheriffs in their state who have warned they will not enforce harsh state-level gun laws that violate Second Amendment rights, suggesting they could be prosecuted if they are unwilling to resign, that their sheriff’s office could lose funding, or most stridently, that the National Guard be called in to enforce the gun-control measures.

“Over 75 counties in Virginia (Virginia has 95 counties) have so far adopted such Second Amendment sanctuary resolutions in the commonwealth, the latest being Spotsylvania County,” The Washington Examinerreports

It is not about gun control but about gun confiscation. It could get pretty bad.

The Democrat Governor is underestimating the will of the people on this.

Why do we keep losing on these issues ? Democrats can flout the law and have sanctuary cities and if we have sanctuary gun zones we lose.

I think this says more about migration patterns in explaining how Virginia has turned blue rather than native born Virginians changing party's.

I am of the school of thought "it's not about gun control - it's just about control".

Actually, it does. The influx of immigrants and rich lobbyists along with DC staff in N . Virginia has changed the dynamics.

Democrats are having a free-for-all in Virginia after their big win this fall. Another ridiculous bill has been prefiled to be printed on January 8, 2020. SB 64 outlaws firearms training, and could impact other group sports such as Krav Maga, Jiu-Jitsu, self-defense training, etc. The bill is designed to prohibit paramilitary activity (read that “citizen m*****as”). But as it stands, it could turn law abiding Virginians into felons with a snap of the handcuffs..

It would also inhibit the ability of firearms companies to train others on the making of firearms. So if a company makes a video showing how to put together a firearm, will they be charged with a felony under SB 64? Looks like it.

VA SB 64, Prohibition of Paramilitary Activity:

1. That § 18.2-433.2 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 18.2-433.2. Paramilitary activity prohibited; penalty.

A person shall be is guilty of unlawful paramilitary activity, punishable as a Class 5 felony if he:

1. Teaches or demonstrates to any other person the use, application, or making of any firearm, explosive, or incendiary device, or technique capable of causing injury or death to persons, knowing or having reason to know or intending that such training will be employed for use in, or in furtherance of, a civil disorder; or

2. Assembles with one or more persons for the purpose of training with, practicing with, or being instructed in the use of any firearm, explosive, or incendiary device, or technique capable of causing injury or death to persons, intending to employ such training for use in, or in furtherance of, a civil disorder; or

3. Assembles with one or more persons with the intent of intimidating any person or group of persons by drilling, parading, or marching with any firearm, any explosive or incendiary device, or any components or combination thereof.

Penalty

2. That the provisions of this act may result in a net increase in periods of imprisonment or commitment. Pursuant to § 30-19.1:4 of the Code of Virginia, the estimated amount of the necessary appropriation cannot be determined for periods of imprisonment in state adult correctional facilities; therefore, Chapter 854 of the Acts of Assembly of 2019 requires the Virginia Criminal Sentencing Commission to assign a minimum fiscal impact of $50,000. Pursuant to § 30-19.1:4 of the Code of Virginia, the estimated amount of the necessary appropriation cannot be determined for periods of commitment to the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.

This bill attempts to enact thought crimes. How is anyone supposed to determine intent? The words “knowing or have reason to know” are chilling, according to Newspunch. The bill will be widely accepted without realizing the dangers hidden in the wording. While the bill could be used to target groups like A****a, it would take significant amendments to do it.

This is all occurring at the same time as at least 22 counties in Virginia have v**ed to become 2nd amendment sanctuaries. The state appears to be brewing for a fight.

It’s dense population in the northern counties near the beltway, bedroom communities for federal (blue) workers. Add that to the rest of the counties (natives) having been asleep for a couple generations and its a perfect storm where liberals take over.
