I agree with you and this is a question that brings on many more complex questions. The Bible says we are surrounded with a great cloud of witnesses, however, I believe this means that those who have gone on before us have lived their lives as a witness of their faith or their non-belief. Heaven couldn't be blissful and wonderful if loved ones can see us still living life in a sin-filled world and the sin even the best of us commit.
Plus a witness testify's to what they have seen or experienced. God needs no witnesses because He is Omniscient. We are the ones who need witnesses.

Thank you for your words of spiritual wisdom, Armageddun,
reaffirming Almighty God needs no witnesses to tell Him anything, that His witnesses testified of Him to their fellowmen/women here on earth, and the success of that witness was determined, as much by their own lives, as by their words.
Isaiah 43:10-12

so that you may know and believe me
and understand that I am He.
Before me no god was formed,
