Yes, it can be a challenge, especially on cold days.

Whenever I fall in public, people always ask "are you ok?". I kind of resent that, because they weren't interested in my health prior to the fall.

This is how I answer "are you ok?"; " I'm fine, why do you ask? "

Them; "well, you fell"

Me; " I did NOT fall, I have a PhD in Gravitology and it's my job to regularly test gravity to ensure it's still working".

I know people 30 years older than me who are not climbing mountains, but they are doing pretty damn good. At the other end I see people who look 30 years older than me and then I realize I'm their elder. I don't know whether to feel good about myself or pity for them.

We are all crabgrass in God's lawn. He tolerates us for a spell and then he pulls us up by our roots. None of us know when that will be. Then Satan walks his dog and lets it take a dump on the lawn. Better to be a weed than a pile.

Good one Paul. Many of us will be wondering if you're monitoring our Alexza or Sirrie.

I agree! LOL! I can still carry my own luggage up three flights of stairs, but it almost k**led me.

I see people my age mountain climbing and I wonder who the hell let them out of the retirement home. I have said it before; if I go to a retirement home I will write graffiti about the staff on the bathroom wall. Since it will be in cursive, they won't be able to read it and will think it's Arabic. They will report me to DHS, who will send me to Guantanamo Bay as a terrorist, and I will receive far better treatment than I could expect as an elderly US citizen.
Can I get an AMEN?

BTW; I have solved your problem. I don't worry about getting my leg through my underwear anymore because I quit wearing it. Occam's Razor and all.

My biggest sorrow is the rapid dying off of my older friends and relatives. Recently a few of my friends passed and I have an Aunt who while still alive has dementia and has no idea who I am. These are people who were kind to me when I needed it in my life.

You have to be lucky to live a long time. I know people who did everything right and either died in accidents or got cancer. After that you have to take care of yourself. Walking is probably the single most important thing you need to do to live long. I have talked to those lived in to their 90s and they all kept moving. One 93 year old guy I know walks and lifts weights, and he is doing great. I go to an indoor walking track at a library because I work strange hours and sometimes need to k**l a few hours if I do not want to drive home.
There are plenty of elderly people walking the track.

I found out Friday just how much older I am now then two years ago. Trudged a mile and a half thru woods and briars carrying a loaded 12 gauge shot gun. Managed to keep up with mid thirty and forty year old guys but I was dying on the inside. The real pain was the trudge back out. Mike
