. Olly Olafson was the most decorated Swedish pilot of WWI and he was on the old Ed Sullivan Show to share some of his war stories. So he says he got out on patrol and had been flying for an hour or so when he noticed there was a Fokker right ahead. Then he saw a Fokker to his right, one to his left and by golly a Fokker right behind him. Ed interrupted the story to explain to the audience that a Fokker was a type of aircraft used extensively by the Germans during WWI. Yah, says Olly, dats true, but dese Fokkers vas Mezzerschmidts.

With your thread title I was anticipating a glorious post featuring Snoopy and the Red Baron, Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen.

However, I appreciate the info on Olly Olafson, a WWI Swedish Ace of whom I'd never heard.

I think Slat is expecting something like

"...In the s**t...survived!"
The End.

All I can say is, I laughed, I cried, I was on the edge of my seat worried for the hero of the story. So glad there was a happy ending!

I rented from and managed a couple of beach bungalows from a WW1 ace in the 70's. Quite a character. Had stories galore and memorabilia to back it up. Mike
