The death penalty only applies to crimes resulting in murder.
Penalties for statutory or child rape can range from one year to life in prison, depending on the provisions of each state’s sentencing statute or sentencing guidelines, the victim’s age or status, and the circumstances of the crime.
Prosecutors of rapes such as this one generally go for maximum sentences, however, the average sentence for child rapists is 10 to 30 years. And, in most cases, offenders are sentenced for 10 to 20 years.
In a recent Supreme Court decision, Kennedy v. Louisiana, it was ruled that the death penalty could not be imposed on a child rapist. The suspect was accused of raping his 8-year old stepdaughter, injuring her in the process, and calling a professional carpet cleaner to clean up the blood. Louisiana law, along with 6 other states, authorizes the death penalty for anyone convicted of raping a child under 12.
Here, child rape was said to be "devastating” in its harm, but could not compare to the “severity and irrevocability” of cold-blooded murder. However, some lawmakers argue that forcible child rape is worse than murder – the child carries those terrifying memories with her for the rest of her life, whereas victims of murder are presumably at peace.
Be advised, I am not in any way defending this pastor, or making excuses for a Christian fallen from grace - s**t happens. But, what Peter has done here is found another dart to throw at his F**k God and Christians board.

I agree...
Execution is just my personal preference...
I'm sure non-christian rapist scum also receive lighter sentences at times... The system isn't perfect....
