How can anyone outside of HongKong presume to judge on the basis of a short video clip in Chinese. I can pull up and show you any number of d********g A****a video clips and ask the same question - but the Dems continue to support and fund A****a and won’t condemn Soros or shut off his various siphons of taxpayer funds into his social engineering organisations worldwide.

Civilians accosted on the street... Police attacked with molotovs and bricks... Vandalism and graffiti...

University students being attacked if they are from the mainland...

It needs to stop...

I live in China... And judge their actions...

Not sure if the MSM reported it or not, but I heard from friends that Shenzhen has shutdown access to Hongkong....

Things are heating up...

No comparison can be made! A****a is a repurposed anarchist movement being used by current power holders to get rid of an obstacle to their plans and continued rule. The people of Hong Kong are trying to prevent the takeover of their country by one of the most despotic and murderous governments in history. You can’t Judge people by the color of their pajamas!!

There are always inside and outside agitators, even t*****rs. HK police shot several people point blank before things took a turn for the worse.

Point blank?

They shot individuals who were assaulting them...

What would you have them do?

Things have been bad for a while now....

Still waiting on those freedoms they have lost?

It is usually considered very bad optics for armed police (or military) to fire on unarmed people, even if they do happen to be assaulting them.

Pepper spray, kettling, etc are considered better practice in crowd control.

At most, they should be firing rubber bullets - which can still k**l, but the optics are much better.

These police are obviously incompetent in r**t control or such situations would be exceedingly rare.

Many - but not all - people in this protest consider having their previously enjoyed rights curtailed to be a cause worth fighting for. But there will always be thugs wanting to join in simply for the love of thuggery and fighting.

The short clip provided gives the reader no chance to form a view - which is the definition (IMHO) of propaganda.

What is your interest in disseminating or promoting propaganda?

Firstly...What are you talking about concerning the officer in the video? He was alone... Not armed for r**t... How do you think he should have reacted when assaulted by two assailants?

In the early days of the r**ts the Hong Kong police were armed with pepper spray and other non-lethal means of defense... After several were hospitalized the decision to arm them was made...

The r****rs in Hong Kong use apps to locate and attack isolated police officers... The police are not incompetent... They are being targeted...

WHAT rights have been curtailed?!

No matter how many people I ask no one seems to know... That is the definition of ignorance...

The film is a link to a larger site... Unless you speak Mandarin I don't think you'd get it... It is no different than one of the MSM showing a clip...

My interest in the clip is that I live in China and the situation is escalating...

I saw one shooting, the HK person did nothing on the video, the policemen who shot him point-blank was about 2 or 3 feet away. Too far away for a punch and too close to throw a brick. I think maybe he was scared and nervous.

Use a baton, CS or a fire hose maybe? Saw another incident where a fire truck was down the street for several minutes. Some Muslims were outside their mosque after services just talking. Suddenly the fire truck sped down to the mosque and spray men, women, and children with a blue-green liquid and then sped off.

I see your side of it, but the leader of HK went against her people and sided with the mainland. There was an existing treaty being violated. It didn't have to happen at all and shouldn't have. People and nations should keep their word and promises. The protestors were pretty good for several weeks but got revved up when nothing happened. Now they're mad after several people have been shot. Both sides are at fault but China started it. I do remember the news saying they thought Chinese police were replacing HK police, rumors fly during protest.

It looks like this is going to end badly to me. My dad told me during the black protests back in the 60s a black woman came up to him during the protests, cussed him out, then spit on him. He was holding a 2" firehose and rolled her down the street and tore off most of her clothes. Crazy things can happen during a r**t and in the blink of an eye. France is into the fifth month of their protest. People are tired of being pushed around and politicians not listening. People make a nation, not the politicians, even in China. The Tiananmen Square protest we're peaceful too until they got mowed down by live fire. Thousands never made it home and just disappeared that day. Never to be seen or heard from again. Not only murdered but no route of escape was left open. They trapped them in the square and opened fire. It was an intentional slaughter.

I will address this first...

How was the existing treaty violated?

I'm not picking on you Peewee..But to date, not a single member of this forum can explain that accusation...

And air maintain, the police have only been properly armed in the past month or so.. After several were hospitalized after being assaulted..

And how did China start it? To date this has been an internal issue of Hong Kong's..I else China would get involved and put an end to it...

Cheers

The treaty was granted an additional fifty years during Margaret Thatcher's time in office. That means it should have been allowed to continue until 2048. That's how it was violated.

China jumped ahead because it wanted to. Shanghai is now the richest city in China so the Chinese could afford to go back on their word and the agreement. It simply happened quicker than they thought it would.

Taking back control was more important than keeping their word. They lost face.
