My step-son and I went to see it in the theater when it came out...
It turned out to be a delightful surprise...so a week later my wife came with us to see it.

I do remember the music but not the people. What I saw was a blue woman that had tube like things coming out of her head.
Here's a link to what I saw....It's the same song.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MR6D7tL38UI'm puzzled...how could one movie have two different scenes with the same music, both in the same place and time within the movie?

Mono dichotomies, elementary my dear maximise.

What the link leads to is a stage performance. There has been at least one other attempt at singing the song by someone other then the actor. This is not part of the movie.

The vid I posted was the woman singing behind the tall blue woman.
The tall blue woman was actually the director's girlfriend
lip synching. She did the movie scene on
stilts and was miffed because he cut so much of her number out to include the action scenes occurring "simultaneously". Dancing on stilts was hard work, she said.

Got it on Blu-ray.
One of the things I like about Blu-ray and DVD is all the cool extra stuff you get.

What a dummy I am!!! I didn't think of that.
One of the reasons that the 5th Element is one of my favorite movies. I've seen this done before (not this one) and I would've preferred it without the leather clad dancers. Anything that detracts from her singing is superfluous.
And some memorable movie quotes...
Police (through the door): "Are you classified as human?"
Korben Dallas: "Negative, I am a meat Popsicle."
Mr. Kim (finishes serving lunch through window): You got a message.
Korben Dallas: Yeah
Mr. Kim: You're not gonna open it? It might be important.
Korben Dallas: Yeah, like the last two I got were important. The first one was from my wife, telling me she was leaving. The second was from my lawyer, telling me he was leaving... with my wife.
Mr. Kim: Ah, that's bad luck. Grandfather say it not rain everyday. This is good news, guaranteed. I bet your lunch.
Korben Dallas: Okay, you're on.
Mr. Kim: Come on...(reads message) You are fired. Oh.
Korben Dallas: Well, at least I won lunch.
Mr. Kim: Good philosophy, see good in bad, I like.

One of the reasons that the 5th Element is one of ... (
show quote)
Manglor whos team just had its ass kicked by Leelu, "It was an
ambush, sir!President, when purser asks Corbin, "Where did you learn to negotiate like that?" on Rosy's hot mike...
…"I wonder.
"
The movie turned out to be an intelligent (mostly) fast-paced space comedy.
Never saw/heard that. Beautiful voice!!!!
Can't believe I've never seen that movie. Action, adventure, aliens - right up my alley. Gonna have to check it out, thanks
