Is the press free troll when they protect Harvey Weinstein or quash an Epstein investigation? How about them allowing the governor of Va a pass on wearing blackface? The press is free. Free to be biased and partisan. Is it coincidence that of the MSM personnel that contributed to political parties that these same people gave over 95% of their contributions to Democrats?
I actually believe this doesn’t bother you at all because you’re an anti-American little troll which everyone sees through.

I think we need to look at this from another viewpoint. Jefferson was right, and what he said is still true. There are several news sources, information sources, books, writings, blogs, and videos available to the masses that DO have the truth, but most citizens won't waste their time looking for or researching them. This is THEIR problem----they look at the headlines, but won't read the editorial or opinion pages to get an informed decision.

The problem is we no longer have a free press. We have Pravda, and if you don't agree with establishment Democrats you must be insane and be discredited as such

The left uses our own Bill of Rights against us, with the First Amendment at the head of the line.

You mean Obama attacks ONE news organization and it's the same as Trump attacking EVERY news organization that isn't Fox? Yeah, like that...

Some history is in order, something with which PeterS has little familiarity. John Adams, an associate author of The Constitution, signed into law The Alien & Sedition Acts, one of which was used in the twentieth century.

Abraham Lincoln closed down hundreds of opposition newspapers. He ordered the arrests of Chief Supreme Court Justice Roger Taney and the mayor of Baltimore, and Clement Vallingdigham.

Woodrow Wilson allowed his AG to arrest anyone who spoke positively of Germans or Germany during WWI.

FDR ordered the broadcasting license of a small Catholic radio station that was critical of him.

Lois Lerner, under Barack H. Obama, withheld the tax exemptions of conservative & pro-lie organizations.

PeterS can point to NOTHING similar that Donald J. Trump has done.

Unfreedom of the Press

Almost 3,000 reader reviews, 95% of which are 5 stars.

From five-time #1 New York Times bestselling author, FOX News star, and radio host Mark R. Levin comes a groundbreaking and enlightening book that shows how the great tradition of the American free press has degenerated into a standardless profession that has squandered the faith and trust of the American public, not through actions of government officials, but through its own abandonment of reportorial integrity and objective journalism.

Unfreedom of the Press is not just another book about the press. Levin shows how those entrusted with news reporting today are destroying freedom of the press from within: “not government oppression or suppression,” he writes, but self-censorship, group-think, bias by omission, and passing off opinion, propaganda, pseudo-events, and outright lies as news.

With the depth of historical background for which his books are renowned, Levin takes the reader on a journey through the early American patriot press, which proudly promoted the principles set forth in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, followed by the early decades of the Republic during which newspapers around the young country were open and transparent about their fierce allegiance to one political party or the other.

It was only at the start of the Progressive Era and the twentieth century that the supposed “objectivity of the press” first surfaced, leaving us where we are today: with a partisan party-press overwhelmingly aligned with a political ideology but hypocritically engaged in a massive untruth as to its real nature.

I haven't addressed you since I have returned to the Opp so I suppose it is time that once again we must agree to disagree. LOL... Be fair at least... liberal biased headline grabbing low lifes.

It is impossible for PeterS to be fair. He only cares about anything, no matter how suspect, that impugns Donald J. Trump. As far as ' liberal biased headline grabbing low lifes', you should be aware that redundancy is considered poor rhetoric.

During the times of Thomas Jefferson, there was the press that states facts, honesty, with professional and moral integrity.

Currently, we cannot call a press a press, because they do not report facts, but lies, deceptions, fabrications to mislead the people. It's not Free Press at this time, but free LIES,to meet their agenda.

The present press is one sided. It is not a press to report factual events to the people. It is an instrument, or weapon of the socialist-democrats to aid and abet their lies and deceptions for political destruction of president Trump and the republican party.

Once more Seth, you hit the nail right on the head. In fact, The American Civil Liberties Union was founded by communists to protect them from prosecution under the Palmer Raids of Woodrow Wilson using The Constitution. ACLU, then as now, was intent on imposing communism on America.

The history is true.
Doesn't negate the fact that this President would like the media to behave like Pravda or Tass in the old Soviet Union. That's the kind of media he wants....no criticism, no deviation from his party line, and no investigation into his administration.

Once a President condemns the press and opposition party as enemies of the people, that President is clearly signalling he wants a one party state. Luckily, Americans and their institutions are not set up for that kind of thinking, or government.

Hm, usually Alexander (the editor) is dead on, but now please! The press except for newsletters died a slow, torturous death beginning in the '80s. If google or some other tech company hasn't gotten to it yet you should be able to look up The dumbing of America. It was championed by (some will hate this and gnash their teeth) Mike Wallace his demon spawn is every bit as 'good' as he was and Walter Cronkite. If it's any solace I didn't like finding out either.

You're right that it's what they do, but it becomes our problem too when they want to act on misinformation. I'll give you an example: Three names were released from the logs of the Lolita express. Why? Look at the names andI'm sure you'll know. Brian Stelter, x Cuomo (probably Chris' brother, I don't think he has the balls) and another CNN employee. Partisan? Yup!

The things some are stating here is why I have not turned the news on my tv for over 3 years. I got fed up with the one sided news. The talking heads of today do not report the news. They give their opinions which is not reporting the news.

Actually what they do is read the headline of the story, give their opinion about it, then tell you how you should think and feel. I stopped watching the news about 2015 or earlier, same reason.
