Because statesmen have largely been supplanted by career politicians, the very ones who should be more definitive when it comes to dealing with the left wing takeover of the Democratic Party pussyfoot around it -- any one of our founders, confronted by the same situation, would have called it what it is: an enemy invasion from within.

1) I depicted nothing as "normal."
2) Nothing in your post is relevant to what I wrote. Do you have a problem staying on topic?
3) The "take over" of the Democratic party by the left is no more prevalent than the take over of the Republican party by the right. The left-wing ideology that you are so terrified of is the same ideology that founded this country while you conservatives were cowering with the redcoats trying desperately, as you are now, to cling to the status quo.

You would not! You people are married to Fox because they are the only ones who will tell you what you want to hear. You don't want to hear the truth. You want to hear what reinforces what you believe and nothing more!

So is Levin's argument is that news organizations should be open about their bias, not objective regardless of bias??? Neither you nor Mr. Levin seems to understand that you can be objective and have a bias, do you? Being transparent with your bias only means that the news you are reporting can't be trusted to be true.

That fits with the likes of Fox News because they pander to only one ideology--an ideology that doesn't want the truth, only to be told what they want to hear, but that doesn't fit with people who want to think for themselves and need the real truth in order to do so.

That's the "freedom" Levin is talking about is the freedom for people like him to spew propaganda to people like you. Most people don't want news that is pure propaganda though Blade. Most people want news that tells them the truth, not simply 'truth' that they want to hear.

You are a skilled liar PeterS. You twist the whole story of the book just like your radical DEMS in Congress who do the same.

Here are the facts well written and thoroughly research of events put together.

• MARK R. LEVIN
ANALYSIS/OPINION:
UNFREEDOM OF THE PRESS
By Mark R. Levin

“Unfreedom of the Press,” writes Mark Levin, deals with “how those entrusted with news reporting are destroying freedom of the press from within: not government oppression or suppression, not President Trump’s finger-pointing, but present-day newsrooms and journalists.

“Indeed, social activism, progressive group-think, Democratic Party partisanship, opinion and propaganda passed off as news, the staging of pseudo-events bias by omission, and outright falsehoods are too often substituting for objective fact gathering and news reporting.

“A self-perpetuating and reinforcing mindset has replaced independent and impartial thinking. And the American people know it. Thus the credibility of the mass media has never been lower.”

In this thoroughly researched and well-written analysis, Mr. Levin, nationally syndicated talk radio host, chairman of Landmark Legal Foundation, host of the Fox News show “Life, Liberty & Levin” and author of five bestselling books, provides a concise survey of embryonic journalistic practices from the Colonial days to the signing of the U.S. Constitution, the development of the Republic and the growth of newspapers, through the Progressive Era and into the present, where we are today, with an overwhelmingly partisan press serving as the voice of one political party.

“It is surely not for the government to control the press,” writes Mr. Levin, “and yet the press is not capable of policing itself. We must remember, we are not merely observers, we are the citizenry.”

And as citizens, Mr. Levin believes, we have great cause for alarm for what is being done to the concept of a free press, and its ultimate effect on free speech. Although expressing no sharp partisan views himself, he sees Donald Trump, a democratically elected president of the United States, as a prime example of what can happen when the national media unites in unbridled hostility, engaging in biased reporting and commentary bordering on sub-literate character assassination, and often completely unhinged.

Some typical examples, among the scores he includes:
1.From MSNBC political analyst Michael Eric Dyson, “‘Donald Trump talks like a racist, makes statements like a racist. Conjures emotions that give succor and support to white supremacists and white nationalists. He has emboldened white supremacists to come forward.’”
More from MSNBCs Mr. Dyson: “‘We got a guy [Trump] who gets up every morning and excretes the feces of his moral depravity into a nation he has turned into a psychic commode.’” (And that’s more than enough of Mr. Dyson.)

2.Here’s Joe Scarborough, once a reasonably good conservative but now also a talking head at MSNBC, where they may be putting something in the water, on the treatment of refugee children, who under Mr. Trump “‘are being marched away to showers, just like the Nazis said they were taking people to the showers and then they never came back.’”

3. NBC’s Andrea Mitchell says that children are being held at the border in “‘concentration camps,’” and introduces Joseph Stalin into the conversation; and an MSNBC producer makes the other implied comparison explicit by accusing the Trump administration of following “‘the exact pattern that Hitler’” had set. And New Republic contributing editor Bob Moses nails it down: “‘He is our first neo-Nazi president.’”

4.Then there’s this Newsweek headline: “‘How Murderer Charles Manson and Donald Trump Used Language to Gain Followers.’”
“The media-pack malevolency toward President Trump and his party belies the press’s self-serving claims of professionalism and high standards .Indeed, during the Trump presidency, the press has engaged in lies, distortions, sloppiness, and overall malpractice to an extent previously unseen in modern times,” Mr. Levin writes.

Mr. Levin does not make those charges lightly, and this fully-researched book is packed with a wealth of information to substantiate them. His intention in writing it, he tells us, is to “jump-start a long overdue and hopefully productive dialogue among the American citizenry on how best to deal with the complicated and complex issue of the media’s collapsing role as a bulwark of liberty, the civil society, and republicanism.”
An admirable goal, and much needed.

All you’re trying to do is to declare your favorite “propaganda-output-machine” writes the truth, while all other news outlets (I.e. MSM) write lies. Fox and the rest of the wrong-wing news outlets are outnumbered considerably. Fox may have a large number of viewers, who happen to share the political views that Fox and the rest of the alt-right-wing media outlets expounds, when compared to a single other outletk. But when compared to the other outlets (cable news plus the network news outlets, those who don’t have a self-announced political leaning like Fox does, combined, the number of Fox viewers is but a small percentage of the total; even in spite of what Trumpet claims.

Sorry to burst your bubble, bubba, but the progressive media propaganda machine has spoon fed you like a baby in a high chair.

Mark Levin is one of the finest historians and constitutional scholars on the planet. His research for the books he writes is exhaustive. In writing Unfreedom of the Press, he studied the history of the press in America all the way back to our founding and the book is filled with references to source materials and footnotes on every aspect of the news, the printing and distribution, including references to articles published in the American press since Thomas Paine's famous pamphlets. The references to source materials fill pages at the back of the book.

Moreover, Mark Levin served as Chief of Staff for Attorney General Ed Meese throughout the eight years of the Reagan administration. Levin is also a long time friend of Larry Arnn, president of Hillsdale College. Hillsdale is a private college that receives no federal money and all students are required to take core courses on the Constitution of the United States. Hillsdale College offers free of charge an online course on Constitution 101. You should take advantage of that, you might actually learn something.

Wow Pete, you need to stop swimming in the pool of George Soros and quit drinking that Carol Marx Communist Manifesto.

Let's look further back, I think it was the Greek philosopher who said, for truth and justice to be found on anything there must be a minimum of three people. One supporting one side. One supporting the other side and one in the middle.

Do you know why? So both sides can check each other with in the facts and use reason. Conservatives are needed in a free society as much as Liberals. Both sides need to be heard in an orderly fashion such that the facts can be weighed and found wanting or not wanting.

This is confirmed by the proverb, "When in fire Gold is tested"

Shutting up the Conservative voice is just as bad as shutting up the Liberal voice. Neither side should be silenced for if they are you are socialist, you are Communist, you are a dictatorship.

The left is trying to silence the right, like at one time in the past the right tried to do the same with the left. Well the outcome will be the same as it was in the past, they will fail.

The Constitution provides a forum to accomplish the finding of truth through fact and reason. Donald Trump Jr says that fact, truth, and reason are like kryptonite to the left. Well Pete, through reason you are proving him correct and so are your colleagues on the left.
