You mean the way Obama attacked FOX news. The press in Jefferson's day was much different.

The key words there are "free press". If you think 5 "news organizations" parroting the same stories, often word for word, indicates a free press, you're delusional.

My grandfather, who lived under Hitler, told me that when all the news sources say the same thing, worry. He said the truth is in the differences and no differences equals no truth.

You mean Obama attacks ONE news organization and it's the same as Trump attacking EVERY news organization that isn't Fox? Yeah, like that...

Gosh, you mean it's only free if every news organization tells a different story? And if they pull from the AP or UPI it's going to be the same. The question is, how could Fox, which belongs to both organizations, report anything but what they report? The answer is, they couldn't, unless they made it up...

Why would he attack the others? They were in his back pocket. The same leftist ones who attack Trump incessantly.

Unfreedom of the Press

Almost 3,000 reader reviews, 95% of which are 5 stars.

From five-time #1 New York Times bestselling author, FOX News star, and radio host Mark R. Levin comes a groundbreaking and enlightening book that shows how the great tradition of the American free press has degenerated into a standardless profession that has squandered the faith and trust of the American public, not through actions of government officials, but through its own abandonment of reportorial integrity and objective journalism.

Unfreedom of the Press is not just another book about the press. Levin shows how those entrusted with news reporting today are destroying freedom of the press from within: “not government oppression or suppression,” he writes, but self-censorship, group-think, bias by omission, and passing off opinion, propaganda, pseudo-events, and outright lies as news.

With the depth of historical background for which his books are renowned, Levin takes the reader on a journey through the early American patriot press, which proudly promoted the principles set forth in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, followed by the early decades of the Republic during which newspapers around the young country were open and transparent about their fierce allegiance to one political party or the other.

It was only at the start of the Progressive Era and the twentieth century that the supposed “objectivity of the press” first surfaced, leaving us where we are today: with a partisan party-press overwhelmingly aligned with a political ideology but hypocritically engaged in a massive untruth as to its real nature.

Obama attacked the one news source who would not walk his line. Trump attacks the news sources deliberately decieving the American people.

If by different you mean there was no internet, radio or television, yeah it was different. But partisanship was there from the founding.

During the 1st Adams administration many newspapers critical of the government were prosecuted under the Aliens and Sedition Act for 'fake news'. So...not so different.

When the press abuses its status as a source of news and information to denigrate one political party while cheerleading for the other to the point of lying or otherwise stretching the truth, cherry-picking the dynamics of events or speeches to limit public knowledge of both sides of said events or the full contents of said speeches, they are no longer the "free press" that Jefferson was referring to, they are a propaganda venue.

At that point, all bets are off and the president has every right to expose them for what they are.

You forget Obama’s war with the press. Or is that okay since he was a democrat?

Neither Trump nor Obama were the first to be at war with the press. And anyone paying attention can see how the press has become more activists than wver.

=================
During the times of Thomas Jefferson, there was the press that states facts, honesty, with professional and moral integrity.

Currently, we cannot call a press a press, because they do not report facts, but lies, deceptions, fabrications to mislead the people. It's not Free Press at this time, but free LIES,to meet their agenda.

The present press is one sided. It is not a press to report factual events to the people. It is an instrument, or weapon of the socialist-democrats to aid and abet their lies and deceptions for political destruction of president Trump and the republican party.

Is the press free troll when they protect Harvey Weinstein or quash an Epstein investigation? How about them allowing the governor of Va a pass on wearing blackface? The press is free. Free to be biased and partisan. Is it coincidence that of the MSM personnel that contributed to political parties that these same people gave over 95% of their contributions to Democrats?
I actually believe this doesn’t bother you at all because you’re an anti-American little troll which everyone sees through.
