I'm not always a fan of Frank Bruni's column, but this one seems to remind us that while we cannot control everything that happens to us, we can always control our response. Wise words to remember.

Thanks for the link, Paul. But, with regard to ones controlling/tempering his response(s), I find you epitomize the following that speaks to one's ability to handle exchanges with those who are demeaning, critical, or just plain rude...

I'm happy to have learned a long time ago to attack the problem, not the person.
But perhaps even more important I learned pretty early on that "Sticks and stones..."

Some never learn the lessons he did and remain bitter all their lives. Perhaps he helped some people with his article. I hope so. I like to read these successes.

This woman has been a quadriplegic for 50 years and is truly extraordinary.

More evidence as to the presence of incredible human beings in this world.
