I am 84 years old. When I was young I learned many things from elders. Some are respect for God, country, Elders, people from other religions and countries, women, the f**g, police, animals, education and many other things.
When I was in high school right after WWII our neighbouring communities wanted to build a new hospital. The media kept emphasizing juvenile delinquency. A group of us decided to start a teenage hospital auxiliary. We raised the money to pay for the land. Housing sub divisions were a new thing and developers gave us $5 every time a family looked at a property. If someone bought one then they gave us $50. The American Legion, Elks, Odd Fellows and other groups supported our fund drives. We mowed lawns, had spaghetti diners, plays and other events.
Readers Digest ran an article about our efforts to show that not all teenagers were delinquent. We were contacted from groups throughout the country asking about how they could start similar groups.
We spoke at several town hall meetings in New England.
I mention this because I had mentioned before about learning from my elders. We heard many tiimes that elders had learned from "you young people."
Recently I was diagnosed with PTSD. I then had surgery and at the follothrogh appointement with the Dr. a nurse practitioner told me about her seven year old daughter Kendall, who loved drawing, asked is she thought it would be OK for hrer mother to give her drawings to people recovering from surgery. I received a beautiful ppicture od a beautiful drawing of a rainbow. This picture is great therapy for my PTSD. I called a local NBC TV station and told them how much I learned from a 7 year old and a couple of Sunday's ago they interviewed her.
Each of us can learn from others if we stop blasting each other with different backgrounds. This is important tome. We all are living in this country so lets thin and communicate together. Remember three things: "God oves you and yours. I love you and yours, and neither will change.

yes it is so true........................I'm 61 so don't really remember WWll or Korea but I do remember Vietnam and the moon landings. Missed Nam by a year but enlisted right after high school. I learned a lot from my grandfather about history WWl, the depression and WWll also from being a history buff and IMO there has never been a good Dem from Wilson to now, except may be Truman cause he made the tough call to end WWll, other than that nope nada noway nohow. But that is just my opinion. Wood you can go bleep yourself any respect I had for you is long gone and for a lot of others here.

Thank you!! God Loves you & yours as do I love you and yours as well!! As my g'pa told me, we ALL learn.. it's the day we Quit learning from each other that we stagnate!.. My pop and I were building a "better mouse trap".. (I was 12) thought we had it licked, but the lil bugger got out between the bars of a very small bird cage, that was r****d up with popcycle sticks.. rubber bands and cheese...lol...My pop raised me as a tomboy.. and he always told me, that my first toy was a 1/2 box wrench... I think.. all this talk of diversity is d******e.. I think more time needs to be spent on our similarities, NOT our differences!.. I don't care bout skin color or religion.. we all bleed red.. and it's about time we started treating each other they way we want to be treated...Although here in OPP, there are some that push the envelope of being d******e for d******eness sake...

HI elledee, Thank you!.. I'm not really Old in the grand scheme of things either at 58 ... but yea.. probably woody's worst nightmare also.. for all I know he is chronologically older than I am but emotional capacity..I'm probably way older, and if one believes in past lives I'm REALLY Old!!.. *grins*
